It is easy for me to write a strong recommendation for Heather! My family, six adults and four children ranging from two to nine years old, met her for a Saturday morning photo shoot this summer. We had agreed that we wanted the photos to be outside, and were delighted to receive a pre-photo day email to clarify what we were envisioning. She offered suggestions for the photos’ “look and feel” and how to blend our clothes to avoid looking too random or too matchy-matchy. We settled on an industrial background, rather than either of the other two options of oceanfront or forest, and we decided to wear blues, greys, and pastels. When we arrived she and her assistant greeted us warmly and introduced us to several edgy urban environments that were the perfect contrast to the warm, soft feel of moms, dads, grandparents, and the cutest little children! We all had a great time! She was directive while still being incredibly patient during the challenges of corralling little ones and inviting them to smile. She took beautiful pictures of the endless combinations you have when there are ten people. Some were more formal, while many were unexpected and delightfully informal! Since I had the opportunity to spend the morning with a professional photographer, I asked if she would be willing to take some “business woman” photos for me before the rest of the family arrived. She took some great pictures that are now embedded in my new website and on my LinkedIn profile. She has broad skills ranging from understanding the art and human elements of composing beautiful family photos, to creating spectacular business photos that can easily be integrated into a website. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $60/hour. Time includes 1/2 shooting time and 1/2 computer time, so if we spend 2 hours shooting, I will require 2 hours of editing time.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Phone call consultation to determine what the subject matter will be, schedule, and how the finished images will be used. We then determine options for the best location and a few options for dates for a photo shoot.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My father has been in commercial photography my entire life and I've been working under his guidance for the past 20 years. More specifically working with product photography and art reproduction since 2011.
