I hired Andrey for both tile installation as well as installing hardwood floors. He did a great job on both. He was flexible and didn't panic when something wasn't ready. He just re-scheduled. We remodel many apartment units and I plan on using Andrey for all my tile and wood floor installations.

My hardwoods are GORGEOUS. Bathroom tile was also done very well. We had some initial problem with a small section of tile but Bogden was very quick to come back and correct it. I would recommend this company to anyone refinishing hardwoods or laying tile. Beautiful work.

We had lots of debris from our tearing down lath and plaster walls. Noel responded quickly, was on time, worked quickly and cleaned up everything and hauled it away for a very fair price. Highly recommended.

Working with TJ was great. He responded to my request for help immediately and was out at my place the next day! He assisted me with various handyman projects such as drywall repair, range hood installation, and floor transition piece installation. His quality of work was very good and I would absolutely use him again.

Jim is great to work with! I do house flip renovations and I use Jim for all of my concrete and landscaping. I highly recommend Jim and King of Kings. Today you usually have to pick between integrity or quality, but with Jim you get both.

Mike's finishing work was done very well and in a timely manner, in a knockdown style in the upstairs area, and a smooth as silk finish in the lower level. Only problem was our shop vac running amuck, sending drywall dust all over. Mike was quick to help remedy that situation. He also charges a reasonable rate for the work he does.

Chris was great from start to finish! We started having him paint our kitchen and dining room which turned out great. We found out he provided other services and hired him to install backsplash in our kitchen, as well as wood floors in our dining room. Everything looks great! He always kept us informed of progress, showed up when he said he would, and even gave suggestions on how we could save money in the process...who does that?! We are very greatful to have found him, and will definitely be hiring him again in the future!

Chad's focus on customer satisfaction is beyond expectation. His approach on the 'right thing to do' and follow-up is the best we've seen. Chad installed a gorgeous master bathroom, home bar, and other glass tile accents for us to perfection. He worked with all natural stone, glass time, & granite. He used epoxy grout and sand grout. He is a great leader, communicates well, trains his crews on the latest techniques/materials, provides quality assurance/control, and is not afraid of epoxy grout like many other tile installer's. Our installation has been in place for approximately 1.5 years and we still love it.

Vlad and his crew did a great job on our downstairs bathroom. We were starting with studs and concrete floor and I didn't feel comfortable doing the shower drain & floor. Vlad listened to what we wanted, worked with us every step of the way including being flexible about buying materials and even saved us a ton by suggesting different places to buy things. For example our shower is doorless but has a big piece of glass that seperates it from the main bathroom area. This glass was showing up well over $1k but Vlad suggested looking on-line and we got an even thicker piece than we were originally looking at for a quarter of the that price. After all was said and done they built out the entire shower (pan, drain, tile, glass, fixtures, etc) and installed in-floor heat before tiling the main floor. It came out great and we are super happy. The ONLY hiccup in the whole thing was we have two tones of Schluter Stip around our tile (white and off-white) which was tough to see in the working light but now with lights installed is sorta noticable. But that is pretty minor....otherwise would have been 5 stars. Thanks Vlad!

Finish Pro Tile was able to provide great service with our kitchen installation. We wanted to do a unique stainless steel tile and Igor, the installer, knew exactly what type of grout was necessary to use to ensure there were no scratches on the finish. He really helped us create the perfect statement piece. His finish work is second to none. Igor was also very trustworthy. He was able to lock up our house after leaving when we had visitors in town. I would rate their service 5 out of 5 stars.

We bought a house with badly stained carpet in the living room and stairs. As both my husband and I have allergies, removing this ourselves was not ideal. Tugsuu was very responsive from the very first message with his quote. He was very flexible and willing to come out on a Saturday to do the job. They left the job site cleaned and now we're ready for our next step - new wood floors! Thanks, Tugsuu. Happy 4th of July weekend!

Jon did a great job installing tile back splash in our kitchen and bathroom. We were under a time crunch to have this project completed and Jon was able to work in our time frame. He is very professional and showed up on time. We will definitely consider using him for any future projects.

Seattles Tile Innovations was extremely helpful in fixing a transition from carpet to kitchen tile that had been poorly done prior to us purchasing the house. We'd had to step over a 2x4 for years and in half a day all was fixed. Furthermore, Ricky made a safer recommendation for the transition to accommodate a baby on the way. Pretty good price as well!

We met with Ben at Ekahi Contracting to get a quote for painting the interior of our home. He really stood out as being more professional than the other painters that we met with. He quickly emailed estimates with different options. His contract was clear and concise, spelling out exactly what work is to be done (including clean-up afterwards) and when payments are due. He and his crew did a great job painting our whole interior, including the walls, ceilings, trim and doors. We had our old carpet taken out, planning to install the new carpet after the painting was done. Ben pointed out that we had a spot in the floor that had water damage, and that he could fix it. He took out the damaged sub-floor, inspected to make sure that there was no mold underneath, and fixed the floor. He again made a clear contract for this job, as before, and did a great job. We were also planning to have our deck repainted, and asked Ben about doing that. He was also able to fix our wobbly stairs (they are very sturdy and stable now). They sanded, primed and painted our deck, rails, lattice and stairs. Ben also used a special deck treatment for the floor of the deck that lasts longer than paint and is slip-resistant. We are very happy with the quality of work that we received from Ekahi Contracting and are planning to have Ben do some renovation work on our kitchen and bathrooms next.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
