Pretty convenient service, she groomed the dogs from the comfort of my own home which was nice for the dogs too since they didn't have to get stressed out going somewhere strange. Professional, did a great job, and she's really friendly! I'll definitely be calling her up in the future.

Arrived promptly as scheduled with a smile on her face and, warmly, greeted the dogs. She showed me the grooming van and assured me off what services would be done. Both dogs came back smelling fantastic with clean ears, teeth, fur and manicured paws :) highly recommended!!

About

I enjoy being around pets and taking care of them. Of course, nobody enjoys picking up the messy buts but I'm sure things will work out great. Family has had an array of pets, dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, etc.

About

I provide fun-loving dog time while mom or dad are busy. I do walking, massages, exercise and sitting time too! I have a license and insurance and lots of love to share.

About

I've lived in Maui, and just recently returned to Bainbridge Island. I raised my children in Bainbridge, and almost all my family is here. I've owned many animals that I dearly loved and cared for. I have owned an organic fruit, flower, and vegetable farm and a vacation rental on Maui for many years.

About

I love working with animals and spending my time with them. I volunteered as a bather and groomer for a long time, so I have a lot of experience working with dogs, and fairly well at training them. Also have no problems with any animals or reptiles. I go on 2-3 walks a day, and have a lot of spare time on my hands.

About

My name is Jade Boyd. I work for and by myself. I am just an independent pet sitter/walker. I love animals.

About

I will happily walk or sit your dog. I am available during Monday-Friday and occasionally on weekends. I am friendly and responsible. I have a pet of my own, and I know that I would also like your pet in good hands.

About

I am taking care of cats and dogs. I'm really good with pets! Like a few times, a dog came up to me, and he let me pet him. The owner was surprised because his dog never let anyone touch pet him/her.

About

I will take care of any animal of any size for as long as needed. I do not have a vehicle so my customers need to bring the pet(s) to me. I have the best care around!

About

I do pet care and pet sitting services. Most of care is with dogs and horses. I offer pet care and cleaning services in the East Side, Seattle area.

About

I love animals and am helping them to be happy and safe. I have been a volunteer for the King County Animal Shelter. I have two dogs and one cat that are spoiled rotten. I am responsible and dependable. I am close to retirement and would love to help folks out.

About

My name is Jennifer and I independently own and operate Pup Strut. Unlike some other larger pet sitting and dog walking companies, you will know that I will be the only person entering your home and taking care of your pets. Pup Strut is licensed and insured. Excellent references are available upon request. You might find that Pup Strut has slightly lower rates compared to other similar pet care providers. This is because I work on the Eastside only. By keeping my driving to a minimum, I keep my costs down which keeps the rates low. I don't believe I need glossy advertising or to pay for expensive sponsorships to gain clients. While those things may look nice they are expensive and at the end of the day it's the clients that are paying for them through the higher rates.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do cats have to get groomed?

It’s not crazy to have your cat groomed. Grooming will keep your cat’s fur soft and silky as well as give you early warning about any health concerns. Regular grooming can also help reduce the volume of hair your cat may be shedding and keep your longhair kitty cool if you live in a warm climate. Professionals competently groom your cat and are trained to manage them if they resist being groomed, while you may get scratched doing the same task. The national average price for cat grooming is $50-$70. Pet grooming prices may vary based on the task. For example, a bath and brush for shorthair cats may be $15, $20 for medium-hair cats, and $25 for a longhair. Cat groomers can also keep your cat’s ears cleaned, trim their nails, and provide haircuts if needed. Average prices for haircuts can vary from $30 to $95 or more, depending on whether the cat is shy or aggressive and whether their coat is in good condition, matted, or otherwise difficult to groom.

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

How much does it cost to groom a dog?

Dog grooming costs depend on the service your pet requires. Nationally, the average price for dog grooming ranges from $40 to $100, varying by location. Not surprisingly, dog grooming on New York’s Upper East Side costs nearly double what it costs in a small town in Montana. Dog groomers typically handle every aspect of your dog’s beauty and hygiene, from tooth brushing to hairstyling. One potential way to save is to have your dog groomed at your doggy daycare — sometimes they offer discounts on dog grooming prices for clients. Here are some examples of average dog grooming costs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please note these prices would include transportation fees for picking up and dropping off your dog to your home:

  • Nails: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
  • Toothbrushing: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
  • Tooth scraping (removal of plaque from teeth to prevent infection), with anesthesia: $600
  • Tooth scraping, without anesthesia: $400.
  • Wash and dry: $60
  • Ears: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
  • Grooming package: $130 — includes wash, nails, teeth, ears, gland expression and haircut
