Introduction: I have been teaching piano and keyboard lessons for almost three decades, I believe I am very patient and detail-oriented when it comes to teaching! I offer lessons in English, Polish, and Czech. Although most students meet only with me once a week, each next lesson builds on the previous one. I believe that practice and assigned weekly theory assignments are integral components in mastering piano. My students are also offered opportunities for recitals and piano exams to practice their performance skills. I love to learn - whether it is new techniques to teaching, learning and mastering new piano pieces, or even learning about my students! My favorite part of teaching is meeting students of a range of ages, learning abilities, as well as cultures. My youngest students are less than 4 years old and my oldest are seniors. The ability levels range from having no experience and students that even have a decade of experience! I believe that is never too early or too late to begin music lessons.

Piano Lessons

I started taking lessons with Janina a month ago and have already learned so much. She is an excellent piano instructor and as a beginning adult piano player, I enjoy taking lessons with her immensely.

Piano Lessons

All the above. I love the way Janina approached my 3 year old granddaughter on her first day. She was very professional and made my g/daughter feel comfortable when we met her on the first day. I would recommend Janina's piano lessons to all children of different backgrounds who are interested in learning to play the piano. She was awesome and very patient.

Piano Lessons (for adults)

I went for my first piano lesson with Janina whom I found on thumbtack. She was patient, very knowledgable with her music and her teaching style is very intuitive so helped me feel at ease. I was very comfortable learning from her. She tailored the class to my level and encouraged me right through the class. I am very happy with her and look forward to my next class.

Piano Lessons

We love Janina on the first day we met her and introduce my 3-yr old granddaughter Mitimarie to her. She was very patient, kind, soft-spoken and really understands children of all ages. A very professional piano teacher who I highly recommend to parents. Thank you Janina.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I offer a free trial lesson for new students to see if they truly would enjoy pursuing lessons with me. During the first lesson, I go over my syllabus, contract, and the structure of my lessons - I specifically favor the Faber and Faber teaching method, which involves the duo's books. However, the lessons are what you choose to make of them! If you have an interest of musical pieces to learn, I am all ears. If all sounds enticing, we will begin weekly or biweekly lessons to your desire!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Along with a degree from the University of Wroclaw in Poland, I attended the University of Washington School of Music to pursue a Post Baccalaureate Certification in Music Education.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Music is like another language. I started teaching piano lessons as a hobby in Poland and Austria, but grew to love the field, to where I wanted to transform my hobby into a career. Currently I have been teaching for about 26 years.
