FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's OK to ask questions! An editor is a lot like your back-up or your guide through the difficult terrain of language. I'm always happy to amend a quote based on a change in services, and I'm even happier to explain what kind of work you can expect from me. Don't know the difference between a proofread and a copyedit? No problem! I'd love to discuss it with you and help you decide which service is right for you.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
A lot of people are new to the editing game. They aren't sure what they want or need, and the skills that an editor provides can seem a little confusing. Editors aren't just grammar geeks (though, for many of us that's certainly part of it). An editor is often your first objective critic outside of your circle of family and acquaintances. It's important to take advantage of the services an editor has to offer, because a good editor will offer sound advice that you may not get from your friends and family. An editor will help you understand your audience's needs in ways you might not have ever considered. And an editor will know your work inside and out!
