It's important to understand the type of carpet cleaning service being hired. Steam cleaning is quite different than dry methods (and dry methods themselves very significantly). Steam cleaning is more thorough and effective, which is why 90% of the carpet cleaning market is done by steam cleaning. Some dry methods like "encapsulation systems" or "tankless" systems provide cheaper services, but they are not comparable to steam cleaning.
