Update: the owner, Gal, personally reached out to me the next day after my initial review. He apologized, listened to my concerns, and promised to make sure his employees follow company policy so that this kind of situation won't happen again. He offered partial refund and extended labor warranty. I apprecaite he cares about customer satisfication and is willing to take responsibility. I'm updating this to a 5-star based on how the issue was resolved. ================================================= My garage door cable slipped off the drum, causing the door to get stuck (but the door was not off the track). I contacted two companies through Thumbtack around 5:20 PM. Advanced Garage Doors responded first and arrived at about 5:50. The technician quoted $500 to fix it (and said it'd cost more if parts needed replacement). I said I wanted to wait for the 2nd company, and he said the other company would charge $600–$700 and that he could do $350 if I decided immediately. I felt pressured and uncomfortable but ended up accepting the offer. The job was done in about an hour. No parts were replaced. While he was demonstrating the repair, the garage opener somehow lost power. As we tried to figure it out, he wasn't too friendly (in fact, he wasn't friendly the whole time). Once everything was working again, I asked if he could send me the invoice so I could pay online. He said yes, but then stood in my garage waiting for me to complete the payment. I was planning to go back to my dinner and asked, "Don’t you trust me?" He said it wasn't that he didn't trust me, but if I didn't pay, he'd have to cover the cost himself. So I had to go through the payment link and all the bank login stuff to complete the payment on the spot. After he left, I reviewed the invoice and noticed it clearly said payment was due within 24 hours, and I got charged for "Reset door from off track status" for $200 even though the door was never off track. The issue was fixed quickly, but the overall experience was not good. I won't be hiring Advanced Garage Doors again.
