FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attend expos, classes, read books and watch tutorials all the time. The most recent was a MAC PRO class on a few of their new products, and class for Dermalogica for their Vitamin A/ Rentinol cream.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always loved hair, skin and makeup. My first job was working for Trade Secret (Regis) when I was 18. I read the back of every single bottle, and literally tried every single line we carried so I could figure out to use the product, convincing friends to come in and let me play with their hair. The stylists taught me how to braid, and even dye their hair because they wanted an update. When we got a makeup line, I started practicing on everyone. Around that time MAC was starting to get big - so I became a freelance MAC artist. I didn't become a true professional until I went back to college. While getting my bachelor's in Fashion Marketing, I volunteered for multiple fashion shows and events to get my name out "there". I'm pretty sure I worked for free for a few years. But after doing so much work and volunteer services for various charities, I started getting hired for weddings, magazines, and by other photographers for shoots. Now I own a hair salon that focuses on hair, skin and makeup. :)
