FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my clients are parents of high school students who are having difficulty working with their students on homework assignments. Often, kids won't listen to a parent "who doesn't understand what they're working on!" Often a neutral party such as myself can help much more. I don't argue! Help with writing mechanics as well as other aspects of English including grammar, punctuation, and spelling are my strengths. A typical tutoring session is focused on completing English homework assignments first, and if there is no homework, we focus on prompts to get the student writing so s/he can practice proper writing techniques.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I wish they would understand that teaching is a difficult profession that requires time, patience, and diligence. I encourage them to better appreciate their student's teachers; also, to differentiate between a proficient teacher and one who is "burned out" and is simply waiting for retirement. Tutoring requires a partnership between the classroom teachers, the student, as well as the parent. All need to be on the same page and have the student's best interest at heart in order to help that student achieve his/her learning goals.
