Always make sure the photographer you are choosing to work with has plenty of examples in their portfolio. I personally keep a Tumblr (jakfruit.tumblr.com) to show how I photograph in everyday life. The biggest mistake people make when searching for an affordable photographer is accidentally picking the one who has ten lucky shots on their website, but truly struggles when it comes to producing a plethora of quality images for their clients.
