If you WANT abs…see this man. The knowledge and experience this man possess played a crucial role in helping me obtain my ultimate fitness goal…abs. Robert was very honest on how I should approach my goal, but was also very compassionate to my individual needs and capabilities…compassion I didn’t experience with other personal trainers. With each session with Robert he set small goals for me to achieve so that the next session would be step up from the last. Each little goal I achieved snowballed into something big and before I knew it, I was rocking a six pack for the first time in my life. After I achieved that goal, I wanted to learn more of what Robert had to offer. I have gotten my body in top physical form that I began learning martial arts from him. Again, his wealth in knowledge and skill in fitness and martial arts is impressive. I was able to learn self-defense using esrkima sticks, knives, and open hand. Robert doesn’t just show you moves…he also explains why the movements work the way they do. Once I understood the “why” portion of each lesson, everything started to come together for me where I no longer had to think about what I needed to do in specific situations. If you’re looking to take you fitness journey to the next level, I’d suggest seeing Robert. You’ll be surprised on what you can achieve when you train with him.

I began training with Kye two years ago when I was a freshman in college. I had never done anything like martial arts before, but hearing of his lessons gave me the opportunity to break out of my shell and achieve that dream. His lessons were beginner friendly and I never felt looked down upon for being a girl, a small fry, etc. Soon, I could use my body in ways I never knew I could, and was able to puruse my own individual path as a martial artist. It was good routine excercise and built a lot of self-confidence. I learned a lot of good self-defense for everyday life as well as awesome moves for practice matches. As a teacher, Kye is patient, charismatic, fun and willing to go the extra mile to help his students learn. I would recommend Kye's system for anyone wishing to pursue their martial arts dreams!

I started Krav a few weeks ago intending just to get my feet wet in self defense, but I'm getting way more than that! It feels great to get in a couple more hard workouts during the week, and I'm getting to know some fantastic people! Kirkland Krav Maga has a supportive atmosphere and it's a great outlet in the midst of a crazy work schedule. Thanks Kirkland Krav! So excited to have both Kirkland and Woodinville locations for even more options!

I recently enrolled in a 4 class-package on self-defense course with Evan. I found Evan to be extremely competent in the subject matter, and passionate about his students getting the most out of his lessons. Although, I had a problem attending my first lesson, and I greatly appreciated the way Evan handled the matter. It already gave me the idea he is a remarkable professional with great customer focus. I would definitely recommend Evan‘s classes if you are interested in learning self-defense. Chiara

I have been training with Mr. Rainey for almost 2.5 years, beginning at the end of March 2013. I believe this will lend some credibility to this review. Mr. Rainey knows his art, and has direct lineage back to the founder of the American Kenpo system, SGM Ed Parker. Mr. Rainey is very much attuned to how to teach, encourage, and develop the skills of beginning students, just as he is for the advanced. This is regardless of whether the student comes to American Kenpo from another system (as in my case) or is completely new to the martial arts. It is worth clarifying that Mr. Rainey teaches is a "martial art" not a "sport". There is a big difference between the two and there are not so many schools that do this anymore. If one's interest is to learn effective self defense, this is the place. With that being said, American Kenpo is also a very complete/comprehensive martial art system that transcends just personal self defense. It is also about self discipline, personal growth, the development of greater self confidence, and physical health. After devoting over 40 years to the martial arts myself, most notably training and teaching Taekwon-do (before choosing to start all over again with Mr. Rainey and the American Kenpo system), I can certainly attest to Mr. Rainey teaching abilities and the overall effectiveness of the American Kenpo system of martial arts. My only regret has been that I did not come to know the Kenpo system, and Mr. Rainey, 42 years ago when my own martial arts journey began.

Jeff has been training with me for more than three years. He assists me in teaching martial arts students and students in the woman's self defense class. He is a certified third degree black belt in a sister Okinawan karate system. He is passionate in teaching the arts and relates to the students very well. He is able to break down the techniques and teaches the concepts and principles in an easy to understand way. He is organized and reliable and always thinking about how to improve what is accepted norm.

A little over a year ago, I made the decision that my daughter and I would learn how to properly defend ourselves against an attacker should this unfortunate event ever present itself. We decided to take training from Joanne Factor of Strategic Living in Seattle. It has been 11 months, and a handful of classes later, and we feel 110% confident that we could protect ourselves if necessary. Joanne Factor is amazing. She not only describes and teaches us in easy to understand instruction, but she also teaches us the physical and mental skills necessary to properly disable an attacker. I give Joanne Factor the highest rating possible and highly recommend everyone and anyone take her training classes ! Even in the face of serious issues, Joanne also makes classes fun and exciting. Joanne's classes definitely should be taken by any and all women and teens ready to take off to college. Thanks Joanne !!

About

Aikido is unlike most martial practices, in that what we do is about partnership, communication and developing positive interactions. Most martial arts focus on teaching people how to hit (or hurt) others, or they are practiced as a competitive sport, where one person must "lose" so that the other can "win". In Aikido your partner helps you to grow and you help your partner. People learn about cooperation and teamwork and everyone improves, without competition.

About

Group Class Rate: $65/month (2 classes/week) Close Range Tactics is a system of private defense based on Wing Chun Kung Fu (ving tsun, wing tsun, etc). CRT offers an effective, aggressive, and straightforward approach to self-defense. Through an effective system of tactics, based on principle and sensitivity, students develop incredible speed and adaptability in the body. CRT teaches systematic solutions and proper reactions to the practitioner (despite size or strength) in the event of sudden violence. You will develop unshakable confidence, increased self-esteem, better overall health, and the ability to deal with day-to-day stress and tasks with ease from training CRT. Our curriculum and teaching methods are continuously modified to help our students be the best they can be. Our curriculum is taught to answer the most common of self-defense encounters you may come across; be it untrained street fighting, predatorial attack, multiple attackers, abduction, or sudden violence. We teach our students to use their skills in real world situations, not just the classroom. This is real self-defense, not a movie. CRT teaches defense against single and multiple attackers, trained and untrained opponents, bladed and impact weapons, firearms, and more. All in the context of adrenalized, disadvantaged, real-time combat.
