Rouge played a great mix of dance music. They specially learned to songs in Estonian (the most beautiful language in the world, but also one of the most difficult languages in the world...). They were well received by dancers ages 3 through 99.

I am a bit of an audiophile so I'm picky about music and bands. These guys are excellent musicians. They have an extensive list of songs they cover and each song was played extraordinarily well. Definitely recommend them to a friend; but I don't have to because my friends were here and they loved the band too. Dave Orr Kelso Wa

I have worked with David as a teacher of a Rock Band class and related Music Theory. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and fun. He wrote his own theory book about improvisation which has been very helpful in making something which could be scary, both accessible and possible. In Rock Band he works with many kinds of instruments quite effectively.

RL is a phenomenal instructor. Besides his ability to shred, he is a master in music theory and can convey his knowledge in a very understandable way. He is well versed in all the genres, from jazz to rock and everything in between. He has had a huge impact on my playing. My lessons with RL are the most rewarding part of my week. Go Seahawks!

The Rafael Tranquilino Band is one of the most versatile and exciting bands I have ever seen. Rafael's guitar work is inspired and he never ceases to blow me away! He also never plays a song the same way twice. You just never know what he's going to do. He is my favorite guitarist! Leah Tussing's vocals are this very cool combination of jazzy blues that brings a completely new vibe to every song she sings. Love her! They are a dynamic duo with some of the most talented rhythm sections in the PNW. I never miss seeing them when they are in Tacoma.

Band was absolutely amazing and with much better musicians at a lower price than other bands we checked out. They were able to learn and master our first dance songs on a last minute basis, play some unexpected live requests, and even allow our friends to join and sing on a couple tunes. Many people complimented the vocalist and the band in general at the end of the night as well. Highly recommend. I have background in music, and these guys know how to play.

He is the best guitar teacher! Especially if you are into theory side of the music. I'm a singer with a degree in music, but he still has so much more to teach me. He'll show you the right path to take you to the next level. Also I've seen this guy shred on his acoustic guitar. I'm pretty sure he has more than 2 hands and 10 fingers. By hiring him as a solo guitar player for your event, you will get like a band worth of complete sound.

We hired Ryan and his band to play for our wedding. He was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We asked him to play specific songs, and he wrote out music for the whole group and they performed it perfectly! He made our magical evening truly one to remember. Would highly recommend Ryan and his band for weddings, corporate event entertainment, background music, and anything in between.

We are very happy with Bloomfield Music's service! The 3 piece band we requested included piano, flute, and cello. They sounded wonderful, were very professional, accommodating, and well prepared. They played a mix of classical and contemporary/pop pieces for my husband's 50th birthday party. Highly recommended!

I guess that would depend on which service we're referring to here; as far as karaoke goes I feel that it's because I add to the performance of the singer by playing assorted instruments, backing vocals, and an above average mix. These things combine to create a much more authentic feel for a singer. As far as instruction, I use a much more informal and flexible style that I feel is less rigid for a new student and allows for more creativity and enhanced advancement.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

        • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
        • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
        • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
