Brief: Shawn with WAPT should be at least ONE of your estimates for both large and small projects. He provides extremely fair pricing and communicates daily on your project. He troubleshoots in your best interest with regard to budget, timeline, and long-term goals for your property. He is professional and genuinely kind and pleasant to work with. It’s such a rare thing nowadays to come across a person and business like this.
Details: Our family owns a number of properties that require endless repairs and occasional full renovations. Over the past seven years, I have searched for a reliable, fair, and skilled contractor, often with much disappointment. Many were misleading, cut corners to maximize their profits, produced poor results, and took no pride in their work or long-term business relationships.
Shawn responded to my first inquiry for a small project within a couple of hours. He showed up for a free estimate the same day and delivered it by that evening. He was professional, sharp, informative, and never pushy. We shopped around for another month or so—we had a mold issue and needed the space to dry out anyway. We ultimately chose Shawn because his numbers were very competitive and included more services than other estimates (such as added drywall repair and painting of walls and trim). His team showed up on time, finished the project ahead of schedule, and assured us they would happily return within the week if anything needed attention. I was very pleased with both the timeliness and quality of the work.
We then requested another quote from Shawn that same month for the renovation of a building over 50 years old that had been severely damaged by tenants we had to evict. The ceilings were damaged by DIY electrical work, the floors were crumbling, the walls and ceilings were scorched from an improperly installed stovetop, and there was a leak running from the roof through the ceiling.
When Shawn arrived for the estimate, I explained that the property belonged to my elderly parents. Their tenants had not paid rent for over two years, lived off free utilities, and left the property in terrible condition. My parents’ finances were strained. Instead of overestimating the budget for each component, Shawn asked if he could return on his own time with each of his subcontractors to secure lower prices for us. This was an incredibly generous use of his time and consideration.
In the meantime, we obtained four additional estimates for the same project—most were extremely high. Some weren’t even true estimates; they provided only a minimum cost and refused to give firm numbers, likely to lock us into the project and adjust pricing later. It felt like an outdated and predatory approach that many contractors still use. They were aggressive and pushed for a commitment without transparency.
Shawn provided a detailed estimate within about three days of his first visit, and it came in at roughly half the cost of the highest bid we received.
Beyond cost, Shawn had quiet professionalism and thoughtfulness we greatly appreciated. After his initial estimate, a misunderstanding led a family friend to demolish the entire ceiling instead of just a portion. Additionally, the floors had three to four layers of LVP and tile. Shawn’s original estimate had assumed much less demolition and repair. When the project began, he was met with significantly more work than anticipated. Despite this, Shawn did not charge additional labor for redoing the ceiling’s wiring, vents, tiles, grid, or lighting—only for the materials. He also did not charge extra labor for removing and disposing of the multiple flooring layers, which alone took four days. These are just a few examples of how fairly and kindly he worked with us.
There are many other honorable mentions.
The roof required major repairs, including the removal and replacement of part of the frame. After beginning the work, Shawn discovered two additional rotting beams and only charged an extra $500 in labor. The building also lacked a ground rod for its electrical panel. Shawn took the time to check multiple sources to find the simplest and most budget-friendly way to make the building safe.
He continues to work on our project now, staying on schedule and handling each unexpected obstacle with thoughtfulness, patience, and respect for our budget. The work is done cleanly, systematically, and with quality.
He will be our go-to contractor for years to come, as long as he has availability.
Highly recommend.

Fast response. Fair price. And most importantly - high quality work. After the initial painting, the color looks uneven in some area. They came back the next day to finish the touchups. Those wood shingles look much better now. It was an awesome experience working with WPT

Very grateful for Shawn for repairing some engineered hardwood that got scratched really badly after some bad movers unsuccessfully tried to move a pool table. He was awesome in that he didn’t just go to replacing the hardwood, and took the smaller job because it was doable and the right thing to do. We had multiple guys come out and immediately tell us the flooring had to be replaced when it didn’t have to. I am in real estate and will definitely be utilizing Shawn and his team in the future because of his integrity in doing the right thing and suggesting the right thing, not just trying to nickel and dime and create a bigger project out of nothing. Thank you Shawn for everything!
