Lawrence saved us after a negative experience with another architect! We are adding an attached garage with a room over the top, two upstairs bathrooms, new kitchen, raising the roof and adding a dormer to augment our view, and taking out the interior chimney to open up the stair case . . . on a Tudor house that was built in 1928--not an easy project. The plans are creative and lovely, and we had no problem getting a building permit. Lawrence is prompt, patient, and really listens. Will post photos of the finished remodel when we're done.

Lawrence is an engaged and thoughtful architect and took the time to become familiar with us and the site before he started to bring us a few proposals and then refine the pieces out of each and pieces drawn freehand on the fly. He was able to help us locate some of the preliminary professionals (survey, engineering, etc.) so that the work was well defined by the time the contractors made bids- detailed blueprints eliminate ambiguity when comparing bids and Lawrence put that sort of package together and then supported getting it blessed through several rounds of "oh- one more thing" from the city during the permitting process. Persistent and professional.

We hired Lawrence to help with numerous design components(new structures, remodeling existing and planning for future projects) and we had numerous issues that required not only a high level of technical competence , but also a lot of creativity to meet the aesthetics we were looking for. Lawrence met each of our needs in aces. Every inspector passed the work with flying colors. We love the improvements we made in our expansion and it has made our old house shine with new beauty.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
As each project is unique, I tailor my fee to the needs of each project, providing only those services that are required for a successful project.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process has 3 stages:
1) project feasibility, where the various code requirements (setbacks, lot coverage, sensitive areas, easements, etc.) are identified.
2) Preliminary design: space and program requirements are integrated with the code requirements. Floor plan and exterior design options developed.
3) Permit drawings developed and coordinated with other disciplines (structural, civil etc.)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Four year Architectural program at the University of Pennsylvania.
Graduate Architectural degree from the University of Idaho.
