FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After your request is sent I try and follow up within 24 hours with an invoice to be reviewed and a rough sketch of a cake based upon your decoration and theme - attaching pictures with elements and colors you like is a HUGE help! The invoice and sketch then act as a starting point for an open dialogue about any questions, comments, and changes that may need to be addressed. Once the invoice is agreed upon and you are happy with it, you'll be sent a cake contract to sign - this locks in your date and makes sure we are on the same page about everything going forward. Then we create your unique custom cake for you to enjoy!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always looking to perfect what I am doing and learn new techniques and methods. I have graduated with two culinary degrees. The first from South Seattle College in Culinary Arts and the second from Seattle Culinary Academy with a degree in Specialty Baking & Pastry. I also try and take advantage of any classes I may come across that feature guest chefs. You can constantly find me nose deep in some cookbook or foodie publication; and I'm usually schlepping around another 3 or 4 cookbooks in my purse just in case!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Since I was in Kindergarden I have been hoping that one day I would be a chef. For my 21st birthday my mother actually had a piece of my schoolwork framed that she had found from when I was 8, written in my little kid cursive, saying my dream profession would be: "chef". Growing older I never abandoned my love of food, cooking, and baking for people. ...with a lot of hard work and determination, I have upgraded quite a lot since my days of the Easy bake 'Oven'.
