Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Hello and thank you for checking out my profile. My name is Jey and I am a dog trainer that uses all 4 Quadrants of Operate Conditioning, which is a fancy way of saying how all living things learn. This is negative and positive reinforcement and negative and positive punishment (negative and positive in this context refers to adding or removing something pleasant / unpleasant to motivate a dog to continue or discontinue a behavior). The tools I utilize in my training, but not limited to, are: clicker, treats, praise, toys, slip lead, prong collar, e-collar, and martingale. I use these tools because they allow the handler to have control of their dog safely (we can't train what we don't have control over) and they produce the clearest communication of what is expected of the dog, which dogs thrive in because they live in a black and white world. I always begin with lots of reinforcement and light pressure, I only start correcting the dog once they understand the perimeters of the command; by staying consistent in holding the dog accountable, the dog's obedience because solid and reliable. I offer board and train, and private lesson packages. Consultations are $50 (excluding sever aggression or reactivity cases, these need to be in-person). I offer an Elder discount to clients 60+ years old and a reparation rate for BIPOC (contact me for details). I am centrally located in Phinney Ridge and I serve the greater Seattle area, as far south as Olympia, and as north as Bellingham.

When we first brought home our adorable and cuddly puppy, we were instantly in love. He completed our family. We diligently took him to obedience classes and practiced his new commands religiously. Still, as first time dog owners, we struggled to channel our pups willful nature and curb his playful puppy bite. When we were referred to Jey we were thankful for the time she took to answer our many, many questions and concerns, and the confidence and no-nonsense dog-training philosophy she had. We did the 3-week board and train and it was a transformative experience for our puppy. It gave us the tools and foundation our family needed (pup included!) to thrive!

I was ready to give my English Bulldog, Jasper back to the breeder. I didn’t have the time or energy needed to train such a headstrong, stubborn boy. Jey was my last hope. She didn’t fail us. Jasper is so we’ll behaved now it’s like night and day. I highly recommend Jey. Her methods work and I would not hesitate to use her services again if I have another stubborn tank of a dog. Thank you Jey.

Details: 2 - 10 years old • Large (41 - 70 lbs) • Private lessons • Aggressive behavior modification • Barking • My home, venue, etc.

I have so many things I could say about Jey but here's the quick version!! We had a wild corgi (Gus) who pulled relentlessly on the leash, bit, and jumped all over guests. He was crazy wild. After the board and train with Jey he in 3 weeks was doing perfect recall (would come when I said come), no longer jumps on guests, can walk in a perfect heal (even when I use my wheelchair) and never pulls on his leash. Gus also learned a command called "place" where he stays on his dog bed and stays perfectly. Also he doesn't eat shoes, socks, or bite now so we could not b happier. We love Jey and she made our Gus into a dream dog. You will absolutely not regret working with Jey she is the very best.

We (my dog Louie and I) looove Jey. From day one, Louie recognized Jey as a confident pack leader and I was comforted with Jey's daily text updates on Louie's progress. My dog was starting to get on an aggressive path so I signed him up for boarding and six private lessons. Worth every dollar as Jey helped me be a better leader, trained Louie advanced basics (sit, down, heel, etc. but with longer duration and better focus) and still checks in periodically. A thousand thank yous to Emerald Dog Training.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Evaluations are free and recurring clients get 5% off their next training service(s). I also offer an Elder discount to clients 60+ years old and a reparation rate for BIPOC (contact me for details). I train dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes. I offer a 10-Day Puppy Board and Train, a 3-Week Board and Train, and private lesson packages. My most popular program is my 3-Week Board and Train, an immersion training program where I work with your dog everyday for 21 days; there is limited space for this program. I only board and train two dogs a month to make sure my clients get the optimal training for their dollar. Clients can expect their dog's behavioral issues to be solved and manageable*, to hold a sit and down for 15 minutes, be on 'place' (the dog bed) for two hours, to heel and loose leash walk, come when called, and to be able to bring your dog wherever your family goes with a peace of mind knowing your dog will behave; after their board and train is complete. Your dog already knows some basic commands? That's awesome! I can make them more concrete and reliable wherever you travel with your dog and even teach them more advance obedience. *Please note there is no cure for aggression, reactivity, or separation anxiety but with training and structure I can teach you how to manage and prevent these behaviors from becoming worse and allowing your dog to still have an enriched quality of life.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I begin with a consultation ($50) either on the phone or in-person (for sever aggressive cases). Once the fee has been paid, I will email a confirmation and questionnaire that I will need answered and sent back before the appointment. During the consultation I will offer tips and discuss which program would work best for the clients dogs or goals. For my board and train program, once the client fills out the appropriate paperwork and pay the deposit, we can use one of the clients 6 private lessons if needed, to learn how to safely and effectively use the prong collar to have more enjoyable walks. Or, your board and train program begins the 1st of the month you secured a spot with. Private lessons begin a week after the dog's board and train began. For my private lesson packages, once the paper work is filled out and signed, and the fee is paid; we can schedule your first private lesson. Typically we begin at your place and then work in public places, depending on the client working with their dog between lessons, and the progress they've made.
