Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Hello and thank you for checking out my profile. My name is Jey and I am a balanced dog trainer, which means I use a balanced mix of negative and positive reinforcement and correction, depending on the needs of each particular dog. (Negative and positive in this context refers to adding or removing something pleasant / unpleasant to motivate a dog to continue or discontinue a behavior). When developing training plans for my clients, I focus on motivation, timing, and consistency. I use what motivates each particular dog (treats, toys, affection, etc.) to stay engaged and encourage them to work for their reward. I use the timing of reinforcements, rewards, and corrections to ensure clear and effective communication with the dog. And finally, consistency is the glue that holds a dog's new education together to create long-lasting/permanent gains. The tools I utilize in my training, but not limited to, are: clicker, treats, praise, toys, slip lead, prong collar, e-collar, and martingale. My primary goal is setting up my clients and their dogs for success. I do this by generalizing obedience across a mix of different real life environments. I start with low-distraction, low-stimulation settings and gradually build on the dog's and the handler's successes toward higher-stimulus settings. Generalization is critical to both the dog and the handler's success and will raise your confidence in working your dog around new people, places, and things. After working with me, I want my clients to have the knowledge, tools, and confidence to train their dogs whenever and wherever new challenges arise. Of course I am always available via email, phone, or text to give my clients additional support. Cheers, Jey ↟↟↟ Centrally located in Phinney Ridge, serving greater Seattle area. Dog Training

I have so many things I could say about Jey but here's the quick version!! We had a wild corgi (Gus) who pulled relentlessly on the leash, bit, and jumped all over guests. He was crazy wild. After the board and train with Jey he in 3 weeks was doing perfect recall (would come when I said come), no longer jumps on guests, can walk in a perfect heal (even when I use my wheelchair) and never pulls on his leash. Gus also learned a command called "place" where he stays on his dog bed and stays perfectly. Also he doesn't eat shoes, socks, or bite now so we could not b happier. We love Jey and she made our Gus into a dream dog. You will absolutely not regret working with Jey she is the very best.

Dog Training

We (my dog Louie and I) looove Jey. From day one, Louie recognized Jey as a confident pack leader and I was comforted with Jey's daily text updates on Louie's progress. My dog was starting to get on an aggressive path so I signed him up for boarding and six private lessons. Worth every dollar as Jey helped me be a better leader, trained Louie advanced basics (sit, down, heel, etc. but with longer duration and better focus) and still checks in periodically. A thousand thank yous to Emerald Dog Training.

Dog Training

First off, I wanna say Jey’s work with our 95 lb leash-aggressive Great Pyrenees-mix was nothing less that remarkable (I tried other trainers)! Her training methods changed not only the quality of life for our dog but my whole family’s quality of life. Marlo, now 3, started her life as a stray and has been face with multiple returns to the shelter which only lead to her developing more behavioral issues and insecurities. During the time before Jey intervened Marlo was only getting worse and worse, she began dragging towards me moving semis, other dogs, and birds while neurotically barking/growling. One day, she was able to yank me off my feet drag me across a street, down a side walk, up someone’s driveway, and to their door just to get to the another dog all on my stomach. At that Point I was so fearful of taking her outside, that contacted Jey as a last hope. I was nervous because I was already invested with another trainer, and I started to believe her behavior could never be reversed, but boy was I was wrong. We signed Marlo up for the 3 week board and train and it was the closest thing to a miracle. Jey gave me regular updates so I could track Marlo progress. Now Marlo is home-sweet-home and I finally don’t have to be afraid to be her handler. I walked her downtown this evening something we’ve never been able to do, we ran into other dogs and trucks and she made me so proud! Bottomline, HIRE JEY! P.S. It’s a learning process for you and dog so don’t think you won’t have to put any work in.

Working with Jey has been life changing for my husband and I! We adopted a nervous and fearful dog name Eve in Nov 2020, and were having troubles with her and my husbands relationship, how to deal with certain behaviors, and getting her to eat. We’d worked with some other trainers before and saw no progress and probably made things worse. Then we were recommended Jey and did a 2 week board and train with Eve. Jey kept us up to date each day with her and Eve’s progress and even sent us videos. When Eve came back home she was more confident and had learned some basic training, and she actually eats meals now! Just having Eve be able to sit on command has really helped us when she starts to panic in certain situations and has given us the building blocks to build her up. With Jey's advice and tools my husband and Eve have been able to start rebuilding their relationship from the ground up, and she is beginning to act more relaxed around him. When we have questions/concerns about training or behaviors Jey is always willing to give us a quick call and offer guidance. Eve still will need lots of time and work, but we know that if anything comes up we have Jey as a resource! We highly recommend her to anyone!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Evaluations are free, and the prices for all my programs are listed on my website. Recurring clients get 5% off their next training service(s). I train dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes. I offer 10-Day Puppy Board and Train, 3-Week Board and Train, and private lesson packages. My most popular program is my 3-Week Board and Train, an immersion training program where I work with your dog everyday for 21 days; there is limited space for this program. I only board and train two dogs a month to make sure my clients get the optimal training for their dollar. Clients can expect their dog's behavioral issues to be solved and manageable*, to hold a sit and down for 15 minutes, be on 'place' (the dog bed) for two hours, to heel and loose leash walk, come when called, and to be able to bring your dog wherever your family goes with a peace of mind knowing your dog will behave; after their board and train is complete. Your dog already knows some basic commands? That's awesome! I can make them more concrete and reliable wherever you travel with your dog and even teach them more advice obedience. My 3-week board and train comes with 6 private lessons, a free prong collar, and a free go-home packet filled with everything I've taught you, to ensure you have the confidence and knowledge to continue your dogs training after working with me. I'm also always available to answer my clients questions, even if it's been a year since you trained with me. *Please note there is no cure for aggression, reactivity, or separation anxiety but with training and structure I can teach you how to manage and prevent these behaviors from becoming worse and allowing your dog to still have an enriched quality of life.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I begin with a free eval to gather as much information I can on the dog. I typically ask questions, meet the dog, and if needed, go on a small walk. From there I will tell the client which of my program will provide the most success for them and their dog. Once my client fills out the appropriate paperwork and pay the deposit, I pick up their dog (or meet somewhere in the middle if I'm driving a long distance) and we schedule their first private lesson. My clients can choose to do a private lesson every week their dog is in the board and train program, or if they feel confident to wait, can use their private lessons after the B&T program.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Starmark Academy (Formerly Triple Crown Academy) Hutto, TX Certificate of Canine Training and Behavioral Specialist (18-Week Study) - 2012. Mentors: Rob Dunn & Jessy Gabriel *Mastered skill sets in: basic and advanced obedience training, basic and advanced behavior problems, agility, advanced clicker training, kennel management, scent discrimination, search and rescue, assistance dogs for the handicapped; and instructing and working with clients. *Learned multiple training methods, including relationship-based, balanced, clicker, and e-collar training, *Worked with rescue dogs of varying temperaments and adopted my rescue, Baloo, a Blue Doberman Pinscher. I continue my education through my current mentor in Seattle, communing with colleagues in the area, books, podcasts, and videos by respected dog trainers throughout the world, working with my personal dogs and trying new methods and techniques with them, and I sometimes foster to keep my craft from getting rusty. Currently I'm learning to train a service dog and Mondio sport.
