Goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Its kind of a 2-for-1. You get an incredible physical workout, that will tone your muscles, increase your flexibility, and build cardiovascular health. You will also build (and the psychologist in me would argue that this is the most important) a deep awareness and appreciation for your physical and mental/emotional strength and flexibility. As I have spent much of my graduate career studying the affects of the body on the mind, and vis versa, I am able to help clients with depression, anxiety and trauma, as well as, daily (family and work) stress. The clients I have worked with in the capacity have reported gaining incredible insight and awareness on how they can use their body to manage their emotions and thoughts in a healthy and effective way. My years of training in psychology and working with clients in private practice, hospitals, and in primary care have truly been a blessing. Being a part of someone's journey toward overall health (physical and mental) has been an honor. Many of the people I have worked with have incredible daily stress, for many this stress began in childhood, and being in a position to help them build their coping and self-soothing skills through yoga is incredibly rewarding.

Jamie is an all-around athlete, a clinical psychologist, a very intuitive and empathetic person, and definitely knows how to have fun - as a result, her approach to yoga is inclusive, sensitive, and can be adjusted easily to fit her client's needs. I studied 200 hours of yoga with Jamie, and I can tell you that she has a stellar wall-free headstand and knows how to make yoga interesting and fun for anyone!

Jamie is one of my favorite yoga instructors! She is great at reminding me that I need to stay in the moment, be present on my mat, and be thankful for where I am TODAY. Jamie is able to create peace and tranquility in the room, and also encourage me to attempt poses that I am too nervous to try on my own. I couldn't ask for more from an instructor.

I have been working with Jamie for the past two months and she has really changed the way I think and feel. Jamie has a Doctorate in Psychology and is a highly qualified yoga instructor. She has used her unique skill set to create an exercise routine that integrates psychology and yoga. Her expertise in psychology really makes a difference, as it seems to have given her an enhanced understanding of how the mind affects the body and vice versa. She has got a great personality and is just a genuinely pleasant person to be with. I always look forward to my time with Jamie!

FAQs

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

As I have worked in mental health through school, and I completed my internship in primary care as a behavioral health consultant, I have seen many people quickly and (in my opinion) needlessly given medication to manage their mood, sleep, even blood pressure and other more health related symptoms. I wish more of the clients and patients I saw knew the huge impact they can have on their emotional and physical well-being with their behaviors, and not just medications. Of course, there are a lot of people who greatly benefit from medications, and for whom medical treatment is absolutely appropriate. That said, many of the clients and patients I saw were able to experience mood and health improvements within days-weeks of making healthy behavior changes (yoga, breath work, meditation, walking, journaling).
