About
(Just wanted to mention that I'm only teaching video-chat sessions now, as I am immuno-suppressed - it works very well, 1st 30 minutes are free so you can see if it's a good fit 👍)
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to view this! I have been playing guitar for most of my life and have been teaching music - from beginner, to very advanced levels - for over 25 years now. I love showing people how easy it is to learn to play, I'm very patient and I like to use each student's personal musical interests and preferences to teach. I don't have a set step-by-step approach; I structure each lesson specifically to each separate student, taking into account their unique musical goals, and how they like to learn. I want you to enjoy learning and playing guitar. I want you to feel that you're improving, not just that you're taking lessons. I'm happy to provide current student references upon request.
Teaching music is the greatest job in the world, it's wonderful to help people learn a skill that relieves stress and brings joy into their lives. Playing guitar is easy! You can simply become as good as you want to be.

I hired Jacob for a private backyard concert as a surprise for my husband's birthday. He played Stairway to heaven on my request because that's my husband's absolute all time favorite. Jacob ended up having to play it twice because my husband was too surprised and shocked to register what was happening the first time around. Covid-19 and quarantine has made it hard to celebrate special days. But Jacob made it special for us. He accommodated all my husband's on the spot requests and played them so well that our neighbors started clapping too. He was so professional, friendly and punctual. We would definitely hire him for our next party, hopefully with our friends and family.

Jacob is an excellent with kids. He tries to connect with them by getting to know them on a personal level. He makes sure that he is teaching to the interests of his students. Jacob really breaks down the music so that it is easier to learn. Try Jacob out- you won't be disappointed.

To preface, I've had the pleasure of having 5 sessions with Jacob at the time of writing this review, and I plan to have many, many more, for as long as he'll have me as a student. Because I have to say, Jacob Hessburg is one of the most phenomenal teachers I've ever had, bar none.
I'd be hard pressed to name any other mentor I've had that is as accommodating, knowledgable, kind, and skilled in their field.
It's also easy to tell that Jacob genuinely enjoys music and teaching. I've met several teachers that just see their field as a means to an end, and they follow the same steps and curriculum for every student.
Jacob, however, has helped me build things from the ground up, easily accommodating my eclectic blend of tastes like metal and folk, and creating regiments that are very entertaining, and efficiently build my motor skills with the guitar at the same time.
I would wholeheartedly reccomend Jacob to anybody looking for a guitar and music teacher. Working with him has been one of the best learning experiences I've ever had, and very much look forward to continuing my work with him.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once we establish a day and time that will accommodate the student's schedule, I simply try to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I really believe that learning and playing guitar should be fun, that it's not as difficult as a lot of people think, and that it is a skill that can be used for the rest of one's life. Playing the guitar really does add a lot of joy, and remove a ton of stress from day-to-day living.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have many many years of professional and private music lessons from some of the most amazing players. When I lived in Southern California I studied under a very noteworthy guitar professional, he tours the world performing with many big-name acts, and performs on television shows regularly. I also worked as his guitar-tech while living in CA.
