I didn't like having to use a separate website to request things to be done by the handyman, but otherwise the experience was good.

Drywall Repair and Texturing

I hired out fixer for a small drywall repair and texture matching job. Initial work fell short on quality in terms of fitting in with existing walls. To their credit, Fixer sent another worker to improve on initial work at their cost. With initial worker, the repair was largely ok, but one patch was prominently ~1/4" recessed in the wall, leaving a prominent and unsightly section with a globby texturing where patch was, near eye level. For all the texturing, the first fixer chose to spend time applying a stomp-brush texture with veiny ridge lines, where my walls had a spray on medium orange-peel texture. After I shared my feedback, a follow up visit with a second worker entailed sanding and re-mudding of the recessed section, and then applied spray-on-orange peel. He was more accustomed to flat drywall repairs, but he did a reasonable job to make an orange peel texture which is similar to the existing wall. Why the rating: 1-Overall Project Duration- Fixer got the work done, but it did take some time to get right. In terms of process, there was the need for re-work, but also my appointments got cancelled a couple times, and had to be re-scheduled, for which they do provide I believe a $25 credit for future work. The work finally converged but walls were a bit of an in-progress eyesore for longer than I'd have hoped. 2-Quality/Expertise - From my understanding, Fixer is a generalist handy-person service. Right now their Seattle crew is getting supplemented by folks from their Chicago team, such that their workers are still building up experience with locally specific details like west coast drywall textures.

I'm a big Fixer fan. Every job has been completed fast, well, and with no inconvenience to my schedule. The Fixer expert also diagnosed different problems and was able to handle the unexpected. Friendly and courteous techs. I will used Fixer as often as I can. I would have checked Professionalism and Responsiveness had I not been limited to three categories.
