FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally, I quote $25-$35 per hour with the lower quotes reserved for students at a lower grade level. These quotes are not firm, however, and I'm willing to negotiate as low as $17 per hour. I currently have no cancellation policy and intend to keep that promise because, well...life happens.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally, I'll use our first few minutes determining whether a student needs help with understanding a concept, replicating a process, or determining a best course of action for lesson planning. After that, the intent is to let the student guide our momentum as far as is reasonable.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two Bachelor's degrees: one in General Science with a math concentration (with coursework that is appropriate for education majors) and the second in Meteorology (which had heavy emphases in physics, calculus, and modeling). I've also taken coursework in Education, most notably Educational Psychology. I currently teach at an alternative private school in the Seattle area* and, with the appropriate support, will be seeking my Math and Science endorsements for the State of Washington. * Due to my contract, I do need to screen potential students in the greater Seattle area
