FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If I shoot at your office or location using studio lighting, I have a minimum charge of $200 because it takes me time to set up and tear down and I usually use an assistant. But if you have more than three people who want head shots, the price per person goes down to $75 each.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I just graduated from the University of Washington with a Certificate in Photography. I also am taking a month long online class on portraiture by one of my favorite photographers of Creative Live. I attend MeetUps on photography and the occasional workshop or class. I also follow other photographers' work that I admire to continue to grow and accumulate knowledge and ideas for my own work.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've loved photography since I was young. After having my first child in 1993, I started taking people pictures in earnest- of him and then getting jobs to take pictures of his friends and their families. People were very happy with my results and it gave me confidence to further pursue the art of portraiture. I started specializing in professional head shots of few years ago after finding a great need for it in the small business community. I also discovered that my favorite way to work is one on one. I also enjoy being in nature and started showing and selling my artwork - first in the Ballard ArtWalk, then coffee shops, wineries, and the LFP-Shoreline Arts Council Gallery.
