FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always buying books on photographer and makeup artistry. I am also working at a Sephora where I receive updated training on new products and makeup techniques. I am also a fan of the Youtube medium, and follow some of my favorite makeup artists. My favorite makeup artist right now is Bobbi Brown, I absolutely love her makeup philosophy and style. She is a master of minimalist makeup. I also do love abstract and body art type makeup as well and plan on researching more. I plan on attending a makeup academy and getting my cosmetology license in the future. I am always teaching myself new tricks and getting advice from other MUAs, I am never shy about learning from others.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look at makeup artists' portfolios. You can really get a sense of what type of styles they like, what looks they are good at, and see if it's something you like. Also, most makeup artists, at least the ones that I've met, are very nice, friendly people! So don't be afraid to talk to us and ask for more information on the type of look we'd arrange for you! A makeup artist that isn't willing to take in what the client wants, is not one worth working with. It's important to find a MUA that is interested in what YOU want, not the shot for their portfolio.
