Hi! I’m Brent, a piano teacher with 15+ years of experience based in North Seattle. I offer personalized, one-on-one lessons for kids, teens, and adults — in my home studio in Broadview.
I teach all ages and skill levels. Most of my students are kids age 4-12.
Whether you want to learn classical, pop, or improvise your own music, I tailor lessons to your goals and learning style. I’ve taught hundreds of students, and many have been with me for years.

We love Brent as he is so patient and very creative when it comes to teaching my kids piano. He started by teaching our almost 4 year old (who is now 5) son. Our son absolutely loves lessons with Brent and looks forward to it every week. We were so impressed that he now also teaches my eldest daughter who is 11 to play the piano.He also has amazing teachers on staff! I myself started taking guitar lessons with the academy nod absolutely love it. We cant wait for our youngest to grow old enough to begin lessons too.Cant recommend Henderson Academy of Music enough and its so nice to have them so close by!!

I highly recommend this school. We have an awesome piano teacher! Malderine works very well with my kids especially my boy who needs redirection everytime he losses his focus. She knows what to do and what to expect and I highly recommend her.The academy itself is awesome. They work well with you as a parent and the process was smooth .... I can go on and on about how great this school is. We are very happy we found them!

We have been having a very good experience with Henderson Academy. My kids started taking piano lessons with Vincent last fall and they are really enjoying them. He is knowledgeable and brings in a joyful engaging energy.

We have enrolled our daughter and son (12 and 13) for piano lessons with Kevin. Very positive experience and the kids love Kevin. Also Henderson Academy of Music has been great answering our questions and checking in with us frequently to make sure everything is going well.

I signed my daughter up for both singing and guitar classes due to her interest and passion for music. Being a musician myself I knew that it would take a very skillful school/teacher to get the best out of her. Thats when I found Henderson Academy of Music. Not only were the hourly rates great but they really helped me find the best instructor who also works around our schedule and even comes to my home instead of me having to take my daughter somewhere probably far. These were huge plusses for me in deciding to go with this school. MiKayla (instructor) is an excellent teacher and gets along outstandingly well with my daughter and works as a great motivational person which my daughter can look up to. She is very responsible, has the best vibe and I can tell she loves what she does. This all works out incredibly wonderful for me and I see day by day how my daughters knowledge skill and passion for music grows. I am more than happy to have chosen Henderson Academy of Music and would recommended it t anyone specially beginners!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a free 30-minute trial lesson so you can get a feel for my teaching style with no pressure or commitment. After that, my rates are as follows:
Half-hour lesson: $50
75-minute lesson: $70
Hour lesson: $100
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free 30-minute trial lesson so we can get to know each other and see if it’s a good fit. In that first session, we’ll talk about your goals, experience level, and musical interests, then dive into some hands-on playing. I tailor lessons to each student’s personality and goals—whether you want a structured, classical approach or a more creative, song-based style. After that, we’ll set up a regular lesson plan that works with your schedule.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 15 years of teaching experience and have studied classical, jazz, and contemporary piano extensively. In addition to performing professionally, I’ve taught hundreds of students ranging from young beginners to advanced adults. I’m constantly expanding my knowledge through self-study and collaboration with other musicians and educators to keep my teaching fresh and effective.
