Introduction: I adapt my style to my students. Each student learns differently, so I explore multiple paths to learning. My experience is that most other tutors have one way of teaching. I make sure we understand the fundamentals and then build from there. I like building a rapport and trust with the students.

I highly recommend Mark Brown for tutoring. We were referred to Mark Brown when my daughter was a junior in high school. He helped my daughter to become an organized writer, helped her prepare for her SAT'S and I am proud to say she was accepted to all 4 of the universities she applied to. My daughter currently attends the UW and I credit Mark in not only helping her boost her testing skills but her academic confidence as well.

I'm a college admissions coach with a new client who has just 2 weeks before SAT's. After reviewing multiple Thumbtack recommendations, I contacted Mark Brown for an initial telephone interview, request some recent references, and review the objectives & deadline. After our brief conversation and supplemental reference verification, I knew Mark was the right choice. And RIGHT I was...! According to my client, he was always on time, maintained patience, and thoroughly executed his set of objectives as planned. Although SAT scores are not available for a couple more weeks, my client says he feels extraordinarily confident he significantly increased his scores. Besides being affordable (he should be charging more), his gift is communication with sole focus for the student working with him at that moment.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I am changing careers, so I have done many things, but am always drawn back to teaching. The reason is because I am good at it. I can illuminate the underlying principles in a way that helps people create understanding. And I love doing it, it is a big challenge.
