FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing varies widely on the type of work that I do. Not all faux finishes cost the same (a faux oak will take more time than a faux pine wood for example), but we can find ways to streamline/condense a process to lower the price if that is a concern. I usually charge half before beginning a project and half upon completion.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually like to have a phone or in person consultation with the customer to exchange visual ideas and discuss possibilities. Once we feel like our tastes and ideas are aligned, I work on creating a sample/mockup of the idea (this is included in the final pricing if we move forward on the project). Following that, I do a breakdown of cost and propose a schedule to move forward and make your project a reality!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with honors from the Van Der Kelen Institute of Decorative Painting in Belgium. Since then, I have worked as a decorative painter full time. Though my training was in traditional 19th century European techniques, I've refined my approach to work efficiently with contemporary materials and tastes, blending old-world techniques with today’s practical demands. In 2018, I obtained a B.A. in Applied Arts and History from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Following that, I worked for six years in set decoration in film and TV shows in New Orleans. I am also a ceramicist and classically and jazz trained double bassist.
