Introduction: I specialize in family photography, because I know that there are little moments you will want to capture forever. Whether you are putting these images into a photo album, up on the wall, or just to post and brag on social media - you don't want to miss a thing! I'm here to help with that. I love being adventurous with my sessions, and am very eager to make you feel comfortable. Getting your picture taken can be sort of overwhelming, but I am here to make the process fun and memorable! Karen and I met online through a neighborhood Facebook group, and when she offered a mini session/shoot, I jumped at the chance, because I've been wanting some nice portraits of me and my boyfriend. Not really engagement portraits, since we're not quite ready to get married, but just some beautiful portraits to frame and hang in our home. Before the shoot, I gave Karen a description of where I wanted to do the shoot, and what I envisioned. Karen was totally receptive and excited about my ideas, and let me know that she also had her own style. I was totally excited and said that with a couple of my ideas and her artistic talent, I thought we could get some beautiful photos. I wanted to go to the Volunteer Park Conservatory, and we agreed to meet there on a Sunday morning to make the most of the natural light. When the day of the shoot arrived, Karen was really prompt and even sent me a reminder before the shoot, which is always appreciated. As we got started, she was friendly and easy to talk to, and my boyfriend Aaron and I were instantly at ease and excited to do the shoot. The session went really smoothly, and Karen was great at talking us through her ideas, the poses, and also letting us be ourselves and be natural. She definitely knew what she was doing, and even though I usually hate being photographed (I tend to self-conscious and self-deprecating), she really put me at ease and made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. Since it was a mini session/shoot, the turnaround for the finished photos was super quick, so I was able to post them on Facebook and show them off to all my friends and family really soon. Everyone loved them, but most importantly, my boyfriend and I love them, and we will treasure those photos for many years to come. I would highly recommend Karen as a photographer. She's talented, friendly, professional, and her photos are GORGEOUS. :)

Karen is fun to work with and takes beautiful pictures! I've always been very happy with the pictures she's taken of my family of five. She's relaxed, good with kids, good at listening to what your hopes are for the session, and has a passion for photography.

Karen has taken pictures of my kids when they were newborns all the way up to when my son recently turned 3. She did well interacting with my kids and doing all she could to make them feel comfortable. She also came prepared with ideas, but made me feel like my ideas were incorporated as well. Would recommend her to a friend!

Working with Karen was such a wonderful experience! Not only did she make me and my fiancÃ© feel more than comfortable during the shoot, she also went above and beyond to make sure we were completely satisfied with the final product. Even though it was a surprise and she didn't have her own camera, Karen did a stellar job filming our simple wedding. She was unobtrusive and yet took many wonderful shots of us and our guests. I highly recommend her as a wedding photographer.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes! I am constantly taking online classes through The Define School (thedefineschool.com) and I am also looking to take a certification course with the New York Institute of Photography in Photo Journalism.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I love that I find something new to learn every time I pick up my camera. Whether it's a better way to interact with a client, or a unique way to capture the light - I am always learning and that makes me motivated to keep going.
