FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Custom cabinets are going to cost more than big box store cabinets but are made of higher quality materials. Custom furniture is also going to cost more, starting at about 3 times what a furniture store piece costs. For that extra cost it should last for generations versus the 3-10 years big furniture store pieces are made to last.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will talk about what you’re looking for and your budget. If it sounds like something I can help you out with, we can schedule a time I can come over and take measurements and discuss details. If it’s a custom piece of furniture I’ll try and get a feel for who you are as a person as I feel a custom piece of furniture is an extremely personal thing and should reflect who you are. If you accept my estimate and our timeline works then we will go forward from there.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’m mostly self taught. I grew up helping my parents remodel their house. As an adult I started becoming interested in how to make nice furniture than just gluing and screwing a few boards from a big box store together. So I started reading as much a as I could, talking people that knew more than me, and putting time in the shop practicing every thing I read.
