Introduction: Teaching music can easily become something that isn't very much fun. I like to apply "Laser Focus" to my teaching. Students and I spend our time focusing on just a couple of details at a time adding check marks to the progress chart verses letting it grow longer and slowing progression.

Ryan is an awesome teacher! I one day decided out of the blue, knowing nothing about playing music, to play the bass. He gave me suggestions on what would be a good bass guitar to start out with and suggested other things that might make it easier for me to get started. To top it off he gave me a bunch of charts and things for me to practice with on days when he wasnt giving me lessons. He was very patient with me as I am a slow learner when it comes to this stuff because I am far from musically inclined and he spoke in terms that I could understand and when it was absolutely necessary for him to use music language that i didnt know about he explained it very well. This guy is a great teacher, I would recommend him to anyone from someone that knows nothing about playing to someone who already plays and just wants to get better. Thanks Ryan!

About 4 months ago, I met Ryan McClelland through an online add. I had no idea what to expect from a private Bass guitar instructor. I have been playing Bass guitar for several years in a band when I met Ryan. By the end of our first session, I knew I wanted to learn more from him. Ryan possesses vast knowledge and experience when it comes to Bass guitar. He took personal time to come to my show. The next lesson, he knew exactly what my skill level is and what to teach me. I’ve noticed a steady improvement in my technique and versatility as a Bassist. I look forward to the lessons and practice regularly because he's always so patient with me but Ryan is also committed to making the best use of my time together. That helps keep me motivated. As you can probably tell by now, I'm very satisfied with my instruction and it has everything to do with the fact that Ryan loves what he does. I highly recommend Spokane Bass Lessons and Ryan McClelland to anybody who wants to seriously learn the Bass guitar!

My, My. Ryan is quite a character, all in a good way! I have a passion for music but am not that good and to be honest, music is difficult to master. Ryan makes it easy to understand and he really works with you to try and help you really understand what it's all about. I definitely recommend this guy. Ryan is great. I have taken lessons on various instruments and with various people, Ryan is by far the best that I have ever had the experience of knowing. He isn't in a rush to get his job done. He works on an individual needs. He really does help you understand music, he's patient, and very kind. He will not judge you, make fun of you. He will always try to make the most of the time with you. He's very encouraging. You need to see him for all of your bass needs! -Mary

Ryan has been such a blessing to our son. He really tries hard to make the lesson fun and challenging at the same time. Ryan never seems to get upset even when he knows my son hasn't practiced as much as he should have. My son says the best thing about Ryan is his attitude.

Ryan is doing a great job teaching me bass guitar! It is so refreshing to have someone who is a BASS PLAYER, not just another guitar player. I truly believe his instructions, especially in the fundamentals of bass guitar music is helping me progress much faster than I otherwise would have. As i'm an older student (retired school teacher) his personalized approach is really useful. I have some previous music experience, but because it has been MANY years since I played the tuba, his patience is much appreciated. If you want to learn to play the bass, Ryan is the man!

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Music Instructors are tough to gauge, especially if you don't know about the art in the first place. Be specific in asking questions such as, what is the curriculum, what is the educators back ground, what are reasonable expectations, is there a chart or list of things to be covered and taught? If these questions can be answered, then ask the same questions to someone you would trust to contrast and compare answers.
