We hired Joe to do the interior trim on all of our new windows and a couple of interior doors. We asked Joe to restore some hundred year old wood in order to match the grain of the original trim. He took a stack of ugly boards and turned them into beautiful finishes.
After the first window was complete we asked him to make some changes. He received the feedback well and made the changes as requested. He we are so excited about the new trim and thankfully that we hired Joe.

I can’t give this contractor a good review. The first day of the project, June 23, he was scheduled to arrive at 7:30 a.m. He texted (instead of calling) at 7:58 to tell me his truck was broken down and he couldn’t make it. He gave no indication of when or if he could do the contracted work. I texted Joe later that morning and asked if he would be available on Wednesday, and he answered that he was still trying to figure that out. Since I’d had no further communication from Joe Bade at 5:30 p.m., I again texted him and asked if he intended to complete the job. He said he wasn’t available until the middle of the following week, so I canceled the job and asked for the return of my $1,300 deposit no later than June 27. When the refund didn’t arrive by June 30, I contacted Thumbtack for assistance. Joe Bade texted me upon being contacted by Thumbtack to let me know he had mailed the check, but, “Mail takes as long as it takes. I sent it and can’t control how long they take.” I finally received the check on July 5, nearly two weeks after the project was supposed to start. The check was dated June 26, but the envelope was postmarked July 3.
Not once during this entire transaction has Joe Bade called me. Every interaction has been via text, and I had to initiate texts the day the project was supposed to start. Professionals call their customers and keep them informed of what’s happening, but this contractor chose to leave us hanging in the wind, and then he added to our frustration by withholding our money until he decided to mail it.
I’m sorry we ever contacted Joe Bade and will not refer him.
