FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I really don't. I'll look at your job and your budget, and based on time and what you're asking for, I'll provide you with a quote. If I think I can do the work under budget and still make a profit, then I will quote you under your budget. Makes some people mad and I'm not sure. Of course the quote isn't final until we have everything decided (prints, etc) but I try to keep the amount as close to the original quote as possible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taken photography classes most of my formal school years, but I still attend workshops to learn more from people who have been doing this longer than me. I also read about each new camera as it comes out (I've always loved Nikon but I do own a Canon as a backup) so I'll be aware if something comes out that's actually worth upgrading to. It's a lot like upgrading your iPhone. If they've packed enough legitimate hardware upgrades to make a noticeable difference in my photography, I'll consider upgrading. Also, I practice, all the time still. I love taking pictures so practice isn't really a chore for me. But I still go out with my camera to see what I can get pictures of and experiment with new methods.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I didn't decide, really. I took a photography class in high school, and I liked doing it. So I kept on doing it.
