What do you love about your job?
What I love about my job is getting to meet and interact with different types of people. Getting to know who they are just by that single photo session is very rewarding. Seeing how they work together as a family or getting a glimpse of their life is awesome. I love seeing the decor and themes at weddings, because these things give me a sense of the type of people my clients are. Also, I love seeing children grow up in front of my camera. I get to take their infant photos and child photos and capture memories up until they grow up. It's my personal story album with my clients.
Who inspired you to start your own business?
I was a single mom working a fastfood job to make ends meat. All I wanted was a nice camera to take pictures of my kids that were priceless. I did my research and purchased my first DSLR. Then, I attended a few classes with a professional photographer. I found myself loving the act of taking those candid shots that made a person's true beauty shine on print. At first, I just shot for practice and fun, and then people started to pay for the product and for my time. I thought, "I got to make a go of this." I did, and haven't looked back. Although there has been time I've had to regroup and rethink, I have loved every minute. It's great to be my own boss, set my own schedule, and choose my clients thoroughly.
