Introduction: Many teachers do not seek certification or continue to practice or take piano lessons. If a teacher enjoys the piano then he or she will continue to practice and become a better musician. This passion will be carried over to the student. I enjoy learning and playing. I enjoy watching and hearing students progress.

My daughter began lessons with Mary Beth Denzer at age 6. At Mary's suggestion we started with 30 minute lessons for the first few months, then moved to 45 minutes She was also very open to my staying and watching the lessons, which I did for most of the first year. This really helped me to understand Mary's ideas and teaching style. Students are expected to practice 30 minutes per day at home and having witnessed the lessons helped me to continue home practice in a similar manner. Mary is very warm and kind and has no trouble relating to young children on their level. She is patient, yet keeps the kids focused. We also really appreciate the book series that Mary uses to teach. The books have lots of color illustrations, child friendly themes and are easy to read. Many of the pieces are shortened versions of classic standards, which my daughter particularly enjoys. Learning piano has given her a sense of pride and has proven to her how hard work, effort, and practice has benefited her. Her piano skills have progressed at an impressive pace and we are very pleased. We plan to start our son on the piano with lessons from Mary in two years when he turns six also.

Mary is an experienced and professional piano teacher. I like the way she teaches my kids. My kids have learned a lot since they started taking the lessons from her. She always encourages my kids to practice at home. She is interested in my kids' music learning and development. She tells them when they've improved and what they do well. She is patient with my kids. She also hosts recitals. The recitals really help my kids to be more confident to play in front of an audience.
