FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Ethical, formula based pricing. I measure areas and lengths and divide them by what I can reasonably do in an hour, then multiply by my burdened hourly rate.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
200+ apartments painted with no hourly pay, just % of the job. I received personal training from the owner of the company I worked for as well as his sons and manager to paint quickly and effectively so that no property manager or handyman would be able to find any imperfections even if they used a flashlight to inspect my work. I was taught that the only way I was going to make the money I wanted was essentially to move and work like a ninja and produce impeccable work. And that is exactly what I did.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started by learning to mask walls, floors, and windows for a real estate investor. He flipped multiple houses a year and I was usually the guy to gut the place, then mask everything for the painters. Later on I received formal training as a painter and concrete surface decorator.
