I booked Steve and Chris (jazz duo) for the 2016 Portland Rose Festival Kick-Off Party that is held annually for Festival sponsors, partners and friends. I cannot speak highly enough of these two--not only were they an absolute pleasure to work with in getting them booked for the party, but they were a huge talking point at the party itself! They were such a huge hit. Every party attendee I talked to just raved about the outstanding music they were hearing--everybody loved the band! I would highly recommend UpFront for any occasion that is need of some seriously amazing tuneage!

Jonathan played for my son's wedding and did a fabulous job of playing tasteful, relaxing, enjoyable jazz background music for the reception. (~1.5hr) His choice of songs was great. Jonathan is an extremely easy to work with person, a great musician and has a very large repertoire of songs he can play. (in several different genres) He can also play anything from solo piano, to duo, trio, etc. I greatly enjoyed the musicality and feel of his piano playing. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for piano based musical performance for their event.

Wow, I have to sit down and write this review of Gene Greer and his band, Back Porch Revival, who played this past Sunday at my daughter's wedding reception. We wanted something that was not your run-of-the-mill wedding reception band, and boy, did they deliver. They started the reception with traditional bluegrass and original songs (more "new grassy"), then when we asked them to they stopped and let us get some toasts in. After that, they played two songs that they learned especially for us. Their rendition of "Annual Waltz" for the father-daughter dance was so good that dozens of people got up and waltzed with us. Since everyone was up and dancing they then started in on some up-tempo bluesy, bluegrass and country stuff. They played that second set for 3.5 hours, without a break, and were clearly having as much fun as the 100 or so guests who were dancing and cheering. One of our friends is a pretty good stand-up base player, and they let him play several songs with them. My niece is a club-singer and they let her take the mic and sing a couple of John Prine songs while they backed her up. It was a magical night, and the band was a big part of making the wedding so memorable. So many people came up to me later and complimented us on the great party, and our selection of Gene and his group. Well done, Gene!! I would hire you again in a heartbeat.

If you are planning an event we highly recommend hiring Elisa! She played at our wedding and it was beautiful. The music was a perfect introduction for our guests as they arrived at the venue. She also played two songs that we requested for the groom's entrance and the bride entrance. Elisa had no problem learning new songs and creating the arrangements for the violin. She is so talented. Elisa is a very skilled musician, professional, prepared, and communicative. We are so pleased she played for us on our big day!

Alex is a great music teacher. My son takes string bass lessons from him. He is able to work basic mechanics and theory into his instruction and still have the lesson be enjoyable. Alex is a calm and patient teacher. It's also inspirational to be able to go see him perform live.

I initially hired Chance in his trio with Jarrod Lawson and Tryrone Hendrix on a whim; I found Chance on line, took a risk, and what a phenomenal find he was! He & his trio have since played at several events at my home. They are fabulous and truly gifted musicians! They add that extra level of positive energy and class to any occassion! Chance, as my contact has always been highly professional, easy to communicate with, on time, and accomodating. Should the occasion arise I would definitely hire Chance again!

Mark Hanson is a virtuoso guitarist and a very bright man. His teaching style is kind and replete with techniques that enhance the performance of wannabes like me. He can arrange a playable version of any tune you think you would like to perform. In addition, he has the patience to rise to the challenge of teaching 'older' students.

'Ky is a knowledgeable and experienced teacher and musician. As a multi-instrumentalist and singer, he has a strong grasp of teaching techniques that make playing string instruments achievable to a wide range of students, from the very beginner to the more advanced. His ability to sing is also helpful, as he teaches his students to play by ear, and to learn how to improvise from songs they hear. I really enjoyed learning the guitar and taking singing lessons from him. He is focused, passionate, and makes playing and practicing music fun! I highly recommend him as a teacher.' Dave Polston

Jack is an excellent teacher. He teaches me how to pronounce the vowels and consonant so my voice will blend with other singers. He also teaches me to have good posture when singing. He is always on time. Jack knows a lot about using my voice the right way so he teaches me everything that he knows so that I can use my voice to the best of my ability. He encourages me by letting me know that when I sing, I am conveying a message through singing. He inspires me to do my best.
