Fantastic service! We considered moving ourselves but so glad we hired HelpMovers instead. The guys were polite, quick, and took great care of everything. Furniture was wrapped and padded. They were careful with walls and floors. They even made a stop at a local store to pick up some large items we had waiting. The hourly rate was very reasonable and the time estimate was pretty accurate.

People movers have the best moving rate in town. They are fast, work hard, and do their job well. I was able to book my move with them within few days of moving. They were at our place on time. Packed and moved our apartment in 4.5 hours and had us in our new place within 2 hours. These guys are great and I will totally hire them again for future moves.

Preston and team were prompt, perceptive, and responsive. They booked the move just days before and did a great job. For the service received, the bid was fair and they held to the flat rate quoted. They paid attention to where everything was coming from and going (moving to a smaller home so they made an additional stop at a storage unit.) I was very happy with their service and Preston's hands on attention. We expect to use them again.

Corey and his team were great to work with. Our move took even longer than expected and he did not charge us above the established flat rate. They worked hard, and were very polite and professional. I would absolutely use them again for future moves, although I’m sure both Corey and I hope that won’t have to happen for quite some time. :)

My guys were amazing! I call them my guys because I always felt as though they cared about my property and move time from start to finish. From first contact to job payment, Majestic held true to their name. this team made my move absolutely magical. I was a nervous reck because I had a number of issues arise as I set out to meet the movers at our agreed upon time at my unit starting with me losing keys and arriving to my unit 15 minutes later than my movers. They called to say they would be about 15 minutes late due to traffic. They were more like 5 minutes late or less. I arrived 15 minutes late. Dan (driver/team leader) and his team communicated frequently, but not too much. They were the pros the whole way and checked in when necessary. They took one break and communicated their break to me. I hired a three man crew to move contents of a 1-bedroom apt down three flights of stares. My property was never left alone on an open truck while they moved and loaded at the apartment or unloaded at the destination. Their rate was hightly competitive and their service was impeccable. I moved to a storage and wanted a certain amount of free space available in my storage unit. They accommodated my request beautifullly! Thanks guys!!!!!

the guys showed up right on time, worked quickly (only took 3/4 of the estimated time frame), were very careful not to break anything, and were super polite as well. glad we used A2B for our move. will recommend them to anyone who asks. and btw, the office people were too notch as well. confirmed the arrival the day before and were helpful answering questions. all this and they had the second lowest rate of all the companies we looked at. well worth the money spent. thanks A2B!

Ron sent some really great guys. Jeff and Reginald were amazing. Although we were unprepared for this move, the moving costs from Moving Mass were more than we expected or what we had paid other movers. Otherwise, that was our only negative.

These guys could not have been more helpful or professional. I was able to set the whole thing up via messages on thumbtack and they made my Renton to Woodinville piano delivery on time and completely as promised. I was a little weary that their rates were so much lower than everyone else but they were total pros, will definitely use them again.

On Monday, I scheduled the movers to come on Saturday. I was so grateful that I found movers on such short notice, and they they had an hourly rate I can afford. They gave me an arrival estimate of between 2 and 4,and they began at 2:10. They call 30 minutes in advance to let you know they're 30 minutes away. Whenever I offered to help load or unload, they insisted that I didn't need to do anything. They also gave me a ride. I am very happy that I went with these guys and will recommend them to anyone who is looking for great movers.

Awesome sums up my moving experience with "The Moving Clique." Quality Customer Service, Quailty Customer Care. Sunday June 3rd. My daughter needed to move quickly. While she worked, I researched movers on Thumbtack. Did the whole online research and inquiry. I called "Smooth Movers" 5 Star reviews on Thumtack who said they could do the job and I was given a time. I told them great and that I had to call my daughter to make sure the time worked for her. When I called the company back to confirm the time the owner said he was running into a meeting, and his associate would call me right back. After 3 hours of waiting with no return call, I called them again. I was told unfortunately the appointment time was no longer available and they were completely booked on Saturday. Ofcourse I was not happy and expressed it. The co-owner then assured me he would find a crew to move my daughter on Saturday June 2nd and would call me back. He never did. (I PLAN TO WRITE A REVIEW ON "Smooth Movers" and their nonresponsive poor Customer Care) HERE IS WHERE "THE MOVING CLIQUE" COMES IN. Found them on Thumbtack as well with a 5 Star rating. And true to their rating they are a 5 STAR moving company, unlike "Smoot Movers" My call to "The Moving Clique" was very last minute because the other appointment fell through, although extremely busy "The Moving Clique" came through. We had to wait but they graciously worked us in and got the job done quickly and efficiently. It was worth the wait. The guys were pleasant quick and efficient ... they provided quality customer care deserving of a 5 STAR rating. Thank you Marcus for coming through for my daughter. Signed, a Happy Mother and Satisfied Customer. I highly recommend "The Moving Clique" 5 STARS

Ultimately very happy with the movers. They worked extremely hard, were very nice, and loaded the truck better than the movers did when moving here. Overall very happy with my experience and would use them again if needed.

Mr. Gomez is the best professional and responsible contractor I have hired in over 50 years of owning a home. He is the only bidder that I have seen that first spray paints, rolls the paint to work it into the surface, and then sprays a second time. His rates are very competitive and I would recommend him very highly.

I would highly recommend Jones Luxury Moving to anyone in the Seattle area in need of a mover. They did not double book the time slot, they responded quickly to questions, and they did exactly what they promised to do, when they promised to do it. And, at every turn, they exhibited a “don’t worry/no problem” attitude. They were professional in every sense of the word. We originally hired someone whose hourly rate was less than Jones Luxury Moving. DO NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE! That company would only communicate via text message, they lied repeatedly and had still not shown up by 10 pm. James Jones was available by phone, was willing to take the job on a Sunday and on extremely short notice. He and his company were everything his competitor was not: honest, professional, courteous, punctual. If you’re looking to hire a mover, look no further than Jones Luxury Moving. They are worth every penny they charge. They’ll show up, they’ll work hard and they’ll be careful with you stuff. Thanks James for doing an outstanding job and being so great to work with on this move!

Nice guys, reasonable rates. We had a bit of a miscommunication about packing, but the guys were professional and adaptable and got it done anyway. I got a full days work for a little less than i had anticipated spending. I'll definitely be calling these folks, the next time i need two big guys and a truck.

My movers just left and requested a review as quickly as possible. I assured them that I would provide then with a 10 out of 5 star rating. Most importantly, the young men were respectful to my husband and I. I am 67 years old so I was on the young men from start to finish - making sure they were respectful of my belongings and home. They wrapped all of my furniture and assisting with packing items that were not packed upon their arrival. I did notice a small hole in the wall at the pick up address. Tight corners so I did not complain. But I did want them to know that I noticed. Other than that, my belongings arrived in great shape. I will recommend to my friend Margaret who will be moving in about 2 weeks. I informed her to request Mark and Stephen. Thanks again for your hard work. Spend your tip wisely.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.
