FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

New doors seems to be the most popular update in a slow economy. Front doors are like the castle gate. It is also the first thing people really look at when visiting your home. We also do a lot of decks. We live in Wisconsin and need a place to eat our brats. We have done some pretty interesting things with decks as well. Added storage space and seating for example. It is also fairly inexpensive to build a new deck or refurbish an existing one. If you are planning a deck, remember to consider how big your furniture is because the worst thing is getting finished and wishing you went the couple of extra feet larger.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

BUYER BEWARE Ask to see the contractors license and insurance info. DO NOT hire an unlicensed contractor to work on your home. A sketchy contractor will tell you that you are responsible for any building permits or tell you not to get one. Any time a structural change is made, a permit is required. Some municipalities require permits if the cost of construction is a certain dollar amount. Do your homework and call your local building inspector before hiring a contractor. They will tell you if you need a permit or not. For the small fee you have a piece of mind that the job was done correct and by a professional who will not take your money and run. If you choose to hire an unlicensed contractor and that contractor makes mistakes or rips you off, you will have a hard time getting things back into order. A licensed contractor goes through regular training with mandatory continuing education. The state will recognize those as true and competent contractors and allows them to pull building permits for the homeowner. DO YOURSELF AND LEGITIMATE CONTRACTORS A FAVOR. HIRE A LICENSED CONTRACTOR.
