Review for William Powers I am a non-professional singer interested in improving my overall level of performance in both solo and choral situations. I have worked with Mr. Powers on several occasions in preparation for a vocal recital and an opera performance, and I truly cannot recommend him highly enough! Not only is he great fun to work with, he is able to quickly and accurately assess my strengths and weaknesses as a performer, and offer practical advice that I can put into use immediately. He is particularly effective in helping me bring a song to life by examining the emotional content of the music and lyrics, and then presenting it in such a way as to deeply touch the hearts and minds of my listeners. Whatever your current level of skill as a singer, actor, or public speaker, and whether you are an amateur or professional performer, Mr. Powers can give you the inspiration and the practical tools to move on to a much higher level!
Tom had taught both my brothers how to play guitar and me being the youngest I wanted to do everything my brothers did. Tom started teaching me guitar when I was around 12 years old. He was the best teacher ever and still is. He was very thorough and was very involved in my progress which is important. He also interacted with me by playing while I played, which helped me respond better to the music. He made learning guitar fun and easy. I learned so much over the years and as I got older, now 28 years old I have written several songs, jammed with many, and have played in a band. He has also opened me up to bass, drums, and piano because he taught me how to listen to music and read music. Hopefully when my children are old enough they will learn from Tom, as well. I highly recommend Tom Margaritas for anyone who wants to learn guitar. It's kind of amazing that after 16 years I am still in contact with Tom my one and only guitar teacher. I'm feeling awesome cause I learner guitar from a truly inspiring person who is so creative and talented.
Jerry and the band we great. Exactly what we were looking for. They were very professional, on time and most importantly they we really good musicians. The music was perfect.
I've been singing for years as a solo artist and am part of a band but needed someone who would be able to help me improve my vocal placement. Figuring this out on your own can be near to impossible as you're so used to hearing your own voice. Julia is a fabulous vocal coach! She got me out of my head. We worked on an assortment of exercises to find my placement then used current song material to execute it properly. She makes singing fun and I can't wait to go to my next lesson!
Allison Cannon is not only a decided musician, but she is also passionate about teaching others. I've known Allison for eight years now and have heard her skill level advance with each passing year. She is hands down one of the most talented musicians I know for her age, and quite frankly most anywhere. She has done a multitude of performances and comes highly recommended by a well renown director, Patrick Henning. If you have the opportunity to work with this shinning-young, talented musician take everything you can in! She will teach you the skill you wish to have from the skill that still surpasses most well known artists.
Alyssa was my pianist for my artist diploma recital back in March 2016. She was super flexible with my busy schedule, was always prepared for our rehearsals, and most importantly she plays incredibly well with so much love for the music. It's hard to find much better. :)
We highly recommend Vinnie Hines at Artist Collective (Chicago)! We have attended several performances by Vinnie Hines and liked him so much that he did a private show at one of our parties. He was fantastic with the attendees and the show was great! It's only perfect that he also does bookings for Artist Collective. We recently went to him with a special request for an artist with a specific skillset and Vinnie was right on it making things happen. Over the years we have used several outlets for talent and Vinnie Hines at Artist Collection (Chicago) is by far top notch and great to work with.
Ms. Røsnes introduced me to several particular stringplaying technical applications. A mountain of patience and a source of inspiration. I had almost given up hope of ever learning but I am still playing and through her instructions am able to make the music live. Much appreciated! Thank you.
Ryan performed at my sister's 50th birthday party. He was great during the planning phase of this event. Ryan worked with me to create a special 1980's tribute concert and even offered to learn a few new songs from my sister's favorite artists of the decade. Ryan arrived within plenty of time to set up and begin singing as people began to arrive. Ryan greeted my sister when she arrived and even allowed her to sing along with him! He sang non-stop for about an hour and a half, and he engaged with the crowd throughout the performance. Ryan was a huge hit! He sings beautifully and is funny and engaging during his performance. He is witty and extremely personable! Many of the guests asked for Ryan's contact information and several have booked him for future events! Ryan is a "must-see" whether you are considering a great night out on the town listening to music, or hiring him for your own event.
I hired Mark Olen and the Brassworks Music Productions for our Chicago revival of the play Side Man. He played a short set before our curtain and audience members were thrilled to experience the incredible live music. He is the consummate professional and true jazz artist. I highly recommend Mark and will most certainly use him in the future.
Absolutely the best guitar teacher I've ever taken lessons from. I wanted to learn: Beatles, Stones, Neil, Dylan, Joni, R&B, and a whole slew of songs I'd heard & loved from my teens. Fran not only knew them, he was able to teach them to a beginner. All ya gotta do is practice. He was one of the best kept secrets in L.A. I remember that not only Bob Dylan, but also Jackson Browne asked him for consultation on specific artists. Chicago is lucky to have him.
After seeing a performance by Alex I asked him to work with me in the future on a dance piece. His technique, clarity, and expressiveness were outstanding then and later when he performed in a new solo I created on a guest artist from a dance company in Israel. He was a pleasure to work with in the process and the final product. I would recommend him to anyone, anywhere, at any time and look forward to working with him again.
This kid is something else, don't let his age fool you.He has an excellent ear and ability to make sounds come alive His style takes me back to when music was real life.Meaning that in the music you could feel the artists love,or joy,or pain. It simply moves you and makes you feel.
