Luis puts a lot of effort into his latin dance classes. He plans out choreo that is appropriate for each level and makes adjustments if needed. He also reaches out to make sure that everyone is getting the steps down. He integrates musicality and rhythm into even the most basic dance lessons. Usually it's about a particular melody or drum beat that allows for a certain expression of movement. It's a nice addition to the basic steps that makes your dancing a little more organic. He's also extremely detail-oriented, so he provides plenty of hints for leading and following that make it easier. Things such as hand positions, where your weight is, etc. Overall he's a class act and I would not hesitate to recommend him as an instructor.

My daughter, 12, takes voice lessons. I noticed the marked improvement after only 3 lessons; her voice really began to capture my attention for fullness, volume, and quality. I believe lessons helped her to get a solo singing part in A Christmas Carol and her voice stood out remarkably even when the other singers joined in.

I've been taking barre classes with Natalie for almost 2 years. She is an amazing teacher. She is so energetic and really puts a lot of care and thought into her classes. She challenges me to push myself, which is great. Natalie is hand down one of the best instructors I have ever worked with!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
