Steve is awesome! I spent almost two years taking weekly lessons from him, and I've improved immensely during that time. He does a great job of blending songs and jamming with teaching the theory behind the music. I was struggling with rhythm and timing when I started, so he had me play the drums so I could get a better handle on it. Steve is a great guitarist, an awesome teacher, and I'd highly recommend him to players of any skill level looking to improve!

About

I've been taking guitar lessons from Travis on and off for the last 3 years. He has been teaching both my 14 year old son and myself together for about 6 months. His knowledge of and ability to explain music theory has helped us to achieve our mutual goal of creating our own songs. He also provides suggestions and feedback about techniques, that has enabled us to feel confident about the value of continuing with lessons. We have also learned ways to jam together, which makes practice more fun.

Lyle did a great job playing acoustic guitar for our wedding ceremony. He was reasonably priced, punctual, and easy to contact throughout our planning process, and he really "got" the sound we wanted.

About

I have been taking alto saxophone lessons from Michael for more than a year. He is highly knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. He employs learning theory to help students to improve their ability. He clearly understands the effort needed to play an instrument well, and takes the time needed for a student to reach that goal. Recognizing that students sometimes wish to rush ahead, he emphasizes the need to go slowly in mastering the techniques needed to play well.

No matter what style you want to learn, what level player you are or what type of bass you want to play, you can expect only the best from me as your instructor. You will master the fundamentals of playing the bass, music theory and technique. I stress the ability to be able to not only read, but write your own music. You are my focus during the lesson, and my only goal is for you to discover your talents and aspirations as a musician. Coming soon will be a student area to assist you in your studies. As many of my other students, I hope that my instruction will lead you down the same path as many others. Over time, I have witnessed my students reveal their talents which has allowed them to evolve their spirit through music. Looking back, it is such an honor to see inspiration become reality when I see those I have instructed become great musicians, writers and/or performers. Some have even chosen to apply and be accepted to some of the most respected musical institutions in the nation. I am honored to be able to share my talent and knowledge, and I would love nothing more than to be able to explore your creative instincts waiting to be unleashed and discovered. What to expect: Dedication, hard work, study and practice. It's the only way you can truly bond with your instrument. If you choose to be instructed by me, you can expect a one-on-one educational approach, and I will challenge you at times. My goal is for you to discover your abilities, not to make do with what you think you are able to accomplish. You will also know you have a professional who has an education and understands theory and technique, which is fundamental in playing. I will strive to teach you in a form that you understand, so that you have the full experience and guidance you need. I will encourage you to be creative, mentor you in the direction you want to go to and provide influence in your lessons.

About

I am a private instructor on several instruments as well as a performing solo guitarist, singer songwriter who often performs in duos, trios and bands. TEACHING I specialize in acoustic guitar music, solo instrumental guitar and also teach beginning piano, electric bass, ukelele, and some electric guitar styles. I received my BFA - Guitar Performance from UW-Milwaukee and WI Conservatory of Music. Becoming a musician is a process that anyone can follow, it is not only available to a select few. Whether you want to better understand music in theory, learn a particular song or even just focus on a key phrase or lick, I can lead you through the steps to developing real musical skill and ability. I'll also make the process enjoyable and fun. I offer weekly and on-call lessons in my studio. I can also make arrangements to teach you in your home, within a ten-mile radius of HeadStock Music or on days that I'm performing in your area. Lessons are also available online through Skype. PERFORMANCE While at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music I specialized in American fingerstyle guitar. I play solo guitar pieces, commonly referred to as classical guitar, however I play on a steel string acoustic and the music is a mix of American music styles: folk, jazz, rock, blues and country. My strongest instrument has always been my voice and I initially studied guitar to be better accompany myself. I enjoy songs from blues, folk, rock, country and jazz styles. I am also a writer and enjoy singing my own songs in a concert/ house concert settings. In most background situations I favor familiar popular songs from multiple eras with a few originals thrown into the mix. Currently, I play in: a Madison rock band called the Fauxtons; a blues and folk trio with mandolin and harmonica players called the Mugs; in a folk harmony duo called the Sugar Daddies; as well a hundred plus solo guitar and song performances a year. I've also done some side projects in a Replacements cover band and an Eagles cover band. Visit my website to hear musical samples.
