I have over 40 years of instruction at the elementary, high school and collegiate level. A Master Adjudicator with 30 years of judging festivals at the district and state levels. An active clinician and performer. My expertise includes all aspects of percussion. Symphonic, Marching, and Drum Set of all styles. An active educator and conductor with many past students who have studied with me for their entire scholastic careers and beyond. My personal approach with a genuine interest in each student provides a comfortable learning experience designed for the individual to enjoy their instruction.

Bob Hudy of First Chair Band Instruction is truly an amazing instructor. My son started with First Chair Band Instruction with no experience in playing the drums and was a shy child. Bob has been able to communicate and teach him over the last few years. Bob is patient and amazingly encouraging, helping to build my son’s confidence in his drumming ability as well as his overall confidence.
Bob is flexible with lessons. As needs come up, Bob caters that lesson for my son. Whether that is suddenly learning a new song my son wants to learn or going back to drum rudiments that can be enhanced, Bob can quickly tailor a lesson.
As my son develops his ability, Bob keeps the pace up and guides him through more challenging lessons so he continues to develop his skills. Bob gives support and encouragement that keeps my son actively practicing and overcoming any drum challenges. My son now regularly plays with our church youth group worship team along with experienced musicians.
Bob is very professional always being courteous, punctual, responsive and knowledgeable, as well as an extremely talented musician himself. But most importantly, Bob takes genuine interest in his students, their development and confidence as well as the student as an individual. We are blessed to have met Bob and to have him teach with such energy, sincere focus and positivity!

Bob is an incredible teacher. Our son Cole has been working with him since Sept 2021. Bob is extremely professional, has a great personality, has fun with Cole, is extremely detailed and makes band fun. Bob is an excellent communicator. He is very flexible in is schedule in case you need to move an appointment due to sports, meetings, etc. We would highly recommend Bob to everyone we know and don't know.
