I’ve been taking lessons from Mike for a month now. He really takes his time to ensure proper technique and doesn’t rush. I knew nothing about playing guitar and was a little apprehensive to even take lessons, but I’m glad I did. Mike is very patient with me and finds the positive when I’m feeling discouraged. I would highly recommend Midwest Guitar Institute to anyone interested in learning guitar.Oct 31, 2017Verified
Mike is a great teacher. Very knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging. I have learned a lot in the three lessons so far and look forward to many more. ThanksJun 27, 2017Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $25/half hour or $50/hour for private, one-on-one guitar lessons. My payment policy requires students to prepay for each month at the beginning of each month. My cancellation policy requires a 24-hour notice or the lesson will be charged. Any unused lessons will carry over to the next month.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I assess their current abilities and find out their musical tastes, aspirations, goals and strengths. This evaluation informs my lesson plan for the student and what materials or books the student may need. I like to set short- and long-term goals with my students, goals which we later refer to and revise.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've seriously studied music for most of my life. I started studying privately with various teachers and then studied music at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. I later studied jazz theory with pianist David Hazeltine at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. However, most of my musical knowledge has come from my extensive experience as a professional guitarist, studio musician, composer and producer.
