Derek was a very nice man, and I believe he could be taught to perform significantly better. Perhaps he did not understand what I wanted and needed. My home is always extremely clean, therefore, I wanted a cleaning service which did the extras. To be more exact...mop and vacuum beneath pull away chairs at kitchen counter, wipe out kitchen sink, mop all the wood floors, properly vacuum stairs (I had sparkles on stairs from Christmas decorations), vacuum all the fern leaves on floor under fern plant (not just some of them), pick up throw rugs, not mop around them, vacuum throw rugs, not vacuum around them, etc. To be kind, I graciously texted him photos of areas he missed with recommendations on how to improve. I owned a successful business for many years, and as I explained to Derek, I always appreciated a client's feedback...good, bad, or indifferent, so I could continue to improve. To my surprise, instead of appreciating my time for feedback with factual photos on what he missed and I had to finish, Derek's response was"opinions are like assholes...everyone has one!" Actually, this response made me laugh out loud. I just guess he didn't want factual photos...just do mediocre work and get premium pay.
I'm not saying do not hire him...I would recommend giving him very detailed instructions and watching him very carefully. In spite of my experience with him, I still like to give everyone another chance.
