Introduction: Thirty years of catering excellence and creativity and being selected nationally to serve such clients as the King of Norway, the owner of the King Ranch in Texas, Bob Denver of Gilligan's Island fame, and as "Caterer to the Stars" at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wis., we provide a festive excitement to every event we host. Whether we titillate our client's appetites with one of our over 30 pages of menu entrees or we are challenged to create a unique client request, we always leave every client's special occasion with a lasting and loving memory. As they say, "We were to born to Entertain." Very few people can say that they never have worked a day in their lives. My wife and I can. We have enjoyed every day, every minute and every challenge. The pure pleasure of enhancing every event with our professionalism is what makes what we do absolutely rewarding and has allowed us to thrive and grow.

Recently I had an impromptu wedding shower for my niece whose fiance was being sent to Afghanistan earlier than expected. I wanted it to be special and fun, but wasn't sure what to do. I had been to a street festival last summer where Hard Wood Cafe was selling their food and just loved their "Go Hog Wild" pulled pork sandwich - and don't get me started on their pulled pork nachos!!!.Really delicious food. I looked them up online hoping they catered-and they do! I started telling the owner Debbie about what I was doing and how much I wanted this to be a really fun and special event. During our conversation I told her how much I loved their cute little gypsy wagon and how we had first tried their delicious food at the street fair. After deciding on my menu, Debbie told me that the truck was available too! I couldn't believe it!!! Our event was a complete success. Everyone there kept commenting on how delicious the food was, and they all loved the truck too. My niece was brought to tears when she saw all of us. Having the truck there was icing on the cake for our party. I really felt like I had hit a home run for my sweet niece. And guess what? We lucked in with weather too - our party was on the 61 degree day that broke an over 100 year record! The food was great and these owners really know how to make an event special. As the producers of a popular health and wellness fair, we have counted on Hard Wood Cafe for several years to serve our annual event which draws approximately 1,500 attendees. We can always rely on the food to be both delicious and diverse so that everybody, even those with special dietary needs, walks away satisfied. Their customer service is some of the warmest and friendliest still around. In a world where this is often lacking, it is nice to know that there are still businesses which do put the customer first. And, in spite of several logistical challenges our particular event has, Hard Wood Cafe always goes above and beyond to accommodate us and to help us have yet another successful year. Needless to say, I highly recommend them for any function you are planning - big or small. Thank you Deb & Craig!

The service was great, clean and friendly. The food was phenomenal. Honestly, the best bbq in town. I've tried many bbq places and nothing compares. I would highly recommend Hard Wood Cafe!! Yum!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most of menu offerings and entrée selections are published and viewable at our website: hardwoodcafe-catering.com. Most menu items range from $6.50 per person to $16.50 per person. Special request menu entrees & dinners are quoted upon request. Getaway Excursions may be included with Weddings and Special Events!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Initial phone or email meeting with client to determine needs & requests 2. Creating menu options for client to choose from as well as addressing additional party planning requests such as theme, décor, date & time, and budget. 3. Once retained, assist in any and all arrangements for event. 4. Perform event with exceptional service and quality
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
1. 28 years of food preparation and creative catering experience 2. Milwaukee Food Vendors and Manager's Licenses 3. Chef Kreig received training at the University of Wisconsin Food Service and served as the University of Montana Food Director for several years. 4. Chef Debbie assisted in a family operated restaurant business and was the Director of Food and Beverage at Sarasota's renowned restaurant "Spin" located at Serendipity Racket Club, Sarasota, FL. She acquired professional party planning training operating as the General Manager of Celebration Catering, Casino & Yacht Cruises, Milwaukee, WI.
