Rev. Kurt officiated at our wedding ceremony on 8/1/14, which was a simple, small gathering in a local restaurant. We wanted a ceremony that was straight to the point, much like a courthouse wedding. Rev. Kurt was awesome at listening to our vision of the service, and we maintaining the courthouse feel, he elevated the service by bringing our event into the context of the times (legalized same-sex marriage) and of the mix of guests, all of whom were close friends, allowing everyone to appreciate their role in our relationship, as well as their participation in an historic exercise of legal equality. Rev. Kurt was a sincere pleasure to work with, and was attentive to details, including drafting out versions of the ceremony for review and edit, and also checked in the day-of to make sure we were ready and also knew he was ready. He truly helped make this event special for our guests, and most importantly, for us!
My now husband and I are not affiliated with any one church or organized religion, but believe strongly in God and the sanctity of marriage. We were referred to Mr. Smith by friends who also had him officiate their wedding. Prior to our August 2012 wedding, Mr. Smith came to our home in Oconomowoc for several counseling sessions that we will never forget. What we learned in these sessions not only better prepared us for marriage, but Mr. Smith provided us keys to build and reflect upon throughout our lives together. Mr. Smith attended our rehearsal. He also customized his wedding speech to our preferences, while incorporating his strong Christian values and message about God and the institution of marriage. And because he took the time to get to know us both during our counseling sessions, he gave an exceptional talk at our wedding and also added a couple of appropriate mentions about us as personally. He also agreed to say a prayer at our reception. And before he did, he gave a short, but humorous speech which our guests really enjoyed. He cared deeply about my husband and I and even contacted us every year thereafter on our anniversary to see how we are doing. My husband and I still think back and feel so privileged that Mr. Smith came into our lives and officiated our wedding.
My husband and I were having lots issues with our marriage and were at the brink of divorce. We decided it was time to get some help. He found some information about Ms hughes and gave her a call. When he spoke to her he knew she would be a perfect fit for us. On our first session I couldn't believe how comfortable we both felt. She is just the type of person you want to pour your heart out to. She explains things so clearly and helps you to organize your own process and what you want to work on. I felt supported and understood. She helped me to clear up so many issues I was trying to figure out on my own unsuccessfully, for a very longtime. She is professional, caring, and just plain brilliant. She has many years of experience and it shows. She is extremely knowledgeable about the issues we are facing. She is helping us work through issues of Anxiety, depression, our blended family, misunderstandings, communication, and conflict resolution. The issues we were facing felt endless. She has changed our outlook and has given us so much hope for the future of our family. She has been true blessing in our lives. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs help with any major life issue.
Pastor creates a safe and inviting environment where you can freely talk and be heard. He also provides powerful insight and makes sense of craziness. I am truly great full to have pastor in my life, as a safety net. When I think I can't take it anymore he give me knowledge and reassurance that I can! I would highly reccomend him!
Robin exudes patience, love and empathy. She is one of my trusted advisors always setting me straight and providing me with sound counsel.
I went to Kathleen for personal issues that are affecting my marriage of 26 years. She has been very professional, kind and absorbing, which has been what i needed to this point. She offers incredible insite without being overbearing, like a friend that you can share ANYTHING without the judgement.
My now husband and i went to her for permarital couselling about 2 months before our marriage once a week and she gave us some things we never really tought about which was good. I liked how she never really judged our life stlye because we didnt go to church ever sunday but she was still caring and concerned about our lives as husband and wife.
Before coming to Anita, we were very desperate and we both really felt as if our marriage was coming to end. Anita was able to help us through marriage counseling, communicating and negotiating our differences. At times, my wife and I obviously expressed our differences during our appointments, however, Anita was able to make sure our conversation were productive and that we really understood where the other was coming from. After our appointments with Anita, I can really say our marriage has started to move in the right direction.
The greatest experience! Pastor Sangram taught us to pray for ourselves and each other before we took our vows. Marriage is a commitment and lifetime journey. He also took the time to know us and added that to the ceremony. Wouldn’t change a thing!
My husband and I were struggling with our 17 year old daughter who was out of control at the time. I was at my breaking point and really didn't know how to help her. I contacted Nicole who started meeting with our daughter and has now developed an extremely supportive relationship with her. We discovered there was a lot of negative energy in our home. Nicole came to our home and removed the energy and blessed our home. We met with her several times to talk about the energies we give off as individuals and a family. We discussed other ways to channel our energy. I learned a lot about myself in this process. I was holding onto many things from my past that I had not let go of and this was transferring to our daughter and my marriage. Nicole was able to put this into perspective for me in ways I never could have imagined. She taught me how to let go and take control of my negative thoughts. She taught me how to really love myself, my husband, and my daughter. We would still be in the same path if it wasnt for Nichole coming into our lives a few short months ago. I will thank her for the rest of our lives.
Suzan did a reading for me at my daughter's 18th birthday party. I was happily NOT married and worried about my career direction. Suzan told me I would meet my future husband within "5-10" months and that it would be good for my career. I argued that I'm NEVER getting married again. She sighed and said "OK, maybe it's a monogamous partnership but I see marriage." Six months later-to the day-I met the man I am now married to. Meeting him changed my mind about marriage! He has also encouraged me in a new career path that suits me a lot but that I could not have followed if I had stayed on my previous life path. Suzan was so accurate!
Sylwia is a great Energy Healer and Intuitive Counselor. She helped me a lot on my Spiritual Journey. Thank You. I highly recommend her services. With Love, BoguSław
Lynn was great in helping me see things with new eyes. I went in with some longtime issues that were keeping me stuck and unhappy in my marriage, and it showed up a bit in my job. Lynn taught me a few exercises that helped me see where I was stuck, and how to get unstuck. I'm still using the skills she taught me (journaling & mindfulness exercises, plus some emotional clearing help). I highly recommend her! Oh, I also appreciated that she incorporated spirituality into our time together--something I wanted from my previous therapist, but with no luck. Give her a try! It always helps to talk!
Tim was very helpful in talking through some important topics prior to our marriage. We found his insight extremely useful and loved his attitude and personality. He also performed a beautiful legal ceremony for us in Lincoln Park. Being that he's an old family friend of my parents, it was even more special to be able to have him legally wed us. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for counseling or an officiant for their big day!
We loved working with Tracie on premarital counseling! She was kind, thoughtful, and very flexible to our logistical needs. It was so convenient to work with Tracie because she was able to come to our house every week for five weeks. Tracie asked a lot of questions, made space for us to think through the important steps in preparing for marriage, identified our key areas of focus, and followed through on all that she promised. We would recommend Tracie again for premarital counseling in a heartbeat!
Rev. Overholt met several times with the Bride and Groom about what their wedding should entail and what marriage means. She talked them thru writing their own vows and how to read them with a group of people listening. She was wonderful and everyone said she did an awesome job. I would highly recommend her services. Thank you for a job well done.

I am a writing tutor and college counselor. My love of literature began early in life when I announced to my parents that I wanted to read for a living. Fast forward a few decades and I read Shakespeare at Oxford, earned my PhD in English literature, and wrote literature textbooks for a major publishing company. I love the one-on-one experience of working with students because I can see their development and growing self-confidence as they brainstorm a creative essay, define their argument in a persuasive piece, or find the right piece of research to tie their ideas together. Many of my students come to me for college counseling and enjoy working with me on their college application essays.
