I had several jobs for Chris to complete. They ranged from shaving and cutting down doors in my home, to mounting motion lights, to re-drywalling a part of my ceiling and insulating the ceiling of a crawl space in the basement. He came the day after I found him on Thumbtack to check out the jobs I would need him to do in better detail. While he was at my home, we discovered a gas leak and while the energy company was there, he immediately went along with the technician to see where the leak was and how to fix it. Chris spent one full day at my house fixing as many problems as he could and returned the next day to finish the rest. He provided me with VERY reasonable estimates, stayed in contact with me throughout the jobs and let me know of any additional details. Chris is an AWESOME guy and I will look no further for another handyman!
The problem was with my side garage door causing locking problems. Though everything looked level and plumb there were some very slight tolerance differences. We took the strike plates off and cut the the nails holding the door frame to the rough opening. There were also two screws, one top and one bottom that were also removed from the strike side. The brick molding from the strike side and top were then removed allowing us to tap the top of the strike side in toward the garage and then tested the locking mechanisms for alignment and ease. Once in proper place, we secured the strike side top and bottom to hold it in place. When we had removed the brick molding we discovered that once the door was properly aligned, the sheathing on the strike side stuck out approximately a 1/4 inch. It became clear that the original contractor failed to square up the hinge side of the door opening with the strike side of the door opening thus there existed a slight torqueing of the door in the opening. With that, and the addition of cold and heat expansion and contraction, locking the door was problematic. We managed to trim down a 3/4 by 1/4 area of the sheathing so the brick mold would sit flat on the sheathing and door frame keeping the appropriate setback from the edge. We were also able to accomplish the work without affecting the siding at all. I had a piece of brick molding consistent with what was there so we were able to replace the strike side molding which I cut on my compound miter saw. Everything fit in perfectly and the door is easily closed and locked. What remains is some slight shimming, recaulking the top and strike side, and another coat of paint on the trim.
John did a really good job installing drywall and tile flooring in two bathrooms and a front entryway for me. The work looked good, very precise.
I hired A Guy & A Hammer to renovate the kitchen in a house built in 1938. Needless to say, the walls and floors were not necessarily level and straight. Tim did a fantastic job of installing the cabinets and tile backsplash and disguising the room's flaws. He was very willing to incorporate my suggestions into the design. The area next to the refrigerator was unused because of the existence of a heat vent. Tim was able to install an upper and lower cabinet by redirecting the heat underneath the lower cabinet. In addition to the new kitchen cabinets, Tim and his team removed an old chimney from a closet near the kitchen and converted it to a laundry area with a stackable washer and dryer. They also installed a new bathroom floor with radiant heat and ceramic tile. Finally, Tim discovered the floor on the front porch of the house was unsafe. He re-built it and created a screen porch which is the envy of the neighborhood. I have a few more projects for the house, and you can be sure I will be calling "THE Guy with THE Hammer!
Dan the man helped me with a renovation project in my backyard. I wanted a outdoor bar taken out and deck stained among other small jobs. Dan did an excellent job was always professional and did things to my budget. He was very good at telling me what things would cost before he didi them. Dan is very good at cleaning up after himself and offering suggestion on other areas of improvement. I would highly recommend his service.
My overall experience working with Matt was great. He arrived 10 minutes early (which was nice) and got to work right away. We're very happy with the new flooring he installed. We'll definitely be reaching out to him for future projects.
Al's team did a great job replacing my roof and was able complete the entire project in 1 day. His bid came in over $2,000 less than the next highest bidder and the project looks great! I highly recommend him for your next home improvement project.
I had my entire first level and stairwells painted. Jerry and his team did a great job. The job was done at a reasonable price and it made our house look very good. I wish we had it done years ago.
Peter painted my downstairs living room, stairway and kitchen. That involved lots of patching cracks which he did beautifully while negotiating the unsolicited help of three cats and two labradors. He also installed the most beautiful tile backsplash in the kitchen - cheerfully helping me as I wove totally undecidedly between colors and tiles. I am so impressed with Peter's work that he is going to come back to complete an outside deck area and there are plans in the air for his help in designing and building an addition to a family cabin. You can not go wrong hiring Peter.
Todd did an excellent job of installing three exterior doors and a storm door. He also did an excellent job of replacing a ceiling fan for me. Todd's prices were reasonable. He did a very thorough job and even did some additional work that most probably would not have done. Todd was very prompt on communication and getting the work done.
Steve is a skilled craftsman who listens, communicates and problem solves exceptionally well. He clearly takes pride in his work, and it shows in the end results. He refinished and restored my deck furniture to better than new condition. He has also done interior painting, installed door hardware, and replaced a sump pump battery backup. He has been dependable and a pleasure to work with.
Jim just finished a bathroom remodel for me. Project turned out great. Jim has done several other projects for me including a large addition. He has done great work. He's been very helpful in planning the project and giving me ideas. He is honest and trustworthy. I have enjoyed working with him. Connie
They did a great job on my new deck. Even took care of filling out paperwork for my warranty so I didn't have to. They were here when they said they would be. Andrew S. was great from the 1st time he came to see what I need right up to the end. Keep up the great work ARC!!
Dan was always in contact regarding schedule and stayed on target. He built a mudroom for us and we love it! We will be hiring him for additional work in our home.
Enjoyed working with Brian. Very punctual and a hard worker. He roofed, painted, and pretty much remodeled a shed we thought was hopeless. Our shed is no longer an eye sore but an attractive addition to our yard.
Job was done fast and efficiently. My entire interior of my apartment was painted and deck stained and looks great. I'll go to them for all future paint needs and love that they donate to veterans
Where can I start? He designed, built and installed a corner spice rack in out kitchen in addition to fabricating a bracket to install our microwave and designed a wine rack to make it blend in with the existing cabinetry. He also hand-sanded and refinished our kitchen cabinets and installed new hardware on them. We now want him to design a bathroom shelving unit. All of these jobs took a day or two to complete. Verl is always timely and punctual and never left us waiting! He is always ready and willing to work around your schedules and is very trustworthy. We have no problem leaving the house while Verl is there working. The quality of his work is outstanding and he never leaves the house without cleaning everything up! We WILL be calling Verl again in the near future!
Norm made 2 picnic tables with coolers and 8 deck chairs. While its easy just buy something off the side of the road, Norm's craftsmanship and customer service is worth every penny. The tables and chairs were custom made to my specs, needed to be sturdy and wide seats for a rental beach home. Norm came through with better than I designed. All were excellent quality and delivered items as promised. I wish I needed more because you can not find this quality easily, and not off the side of the road. The only thing I couldnt do is talk Norm into lugging all that furniture up 3 narrow flights of stairs, but my contractor came through with Lull, so all is better great. Thank you Norm, you added the finishing touches to our home. Pics availb upon request.
