We love using Paws and Claws Pet Service and have been costumers for about a year. We have too very active Golden Retrievers and it is great to have them walked during the day when we are at work. We have also used their overnight pet sitting services and were very pleased. They are great about leaving notes and really seem to get to know your dog's personalities. It is wonderful to know that when we are away someone is watching our dogs who love them too!

Ryan was very professional and responsive from the very beginning. Since this was our first time hiring a pet sitter, we wanted to be cautious of who we were deciding to hire. I asked Ryan for a reference and he ended up giving me two, both spoke very highly of his work. His focus at all times was to connect with our dogs and make sure they were very well taken care of. He is extremely knowledgeable about dogs and pays attention to cues of how they are feeling. It's never easy to leave our pups behind when we go out of town but Ryan made us feel at ease by sending us pictures every day. We took a chance on Ryan and it was the best decision we could have made!

Hi my name is Tiffanie. Let me start out by saying I love all animals. I am not able to have children so animals are very important to me. I want you to know that I will treat your furry babies as if they were my own.

I am a Madison-based dog walker. I also do pet sitting and day care. I love animals and have none of my own.

I am very responsible and have been working with a variety of animals all my life, ranging from cats and dogs to raccoons and squirrels.

I will watch your critters (fish, feline or dog -- my specialty) while you are away. I have excellent references, having dog-walked in the city of Chicago for professionals there. I also volunteered for a lab rescue as a foster parent.

I am a pet sitter and dog walker. I love animals of all kinds. I am currently a college student trying to make some extra cash.

At Noble Hound Animal Hospital and Pet Resort, we truly care about your pet. Our full service Veterinary Hosptial, Pet Boarding and Pet Grooming Facility caters to your royal pet. We treat your animals like they were our own.

I would love to pet sit after work and some weekends. I really enjoy animals. I am a single lady with energy. I will treat your pets like my own and your children like my grandchildren.

I'm able to handle all pets. I will do anything I need to for them, and I don't mind cleaning up after them.

I do bale hay and take care of animals. I can fix tucks and cut lawns and fix tractors and farm equipment. I can do almost anything.

I am a very responsible retired individual with considerable flexibility for scheduling

Because I go above and beyond! I take pride in my job and honestly love the rewards it provides. I believe a pet is a family member and the unconditional love they bring you should be returned... even if it be through a pet sitter when you can't.

I have shown dogs since I was seven. Dogs have always been a part of my life. Therefore, it's natural for me to want to pursue pet sitting full time.

I will give your best friend the care that they desire and more. You let me know what they like, and I take care of the rest.

We are a full-service vacation pet sitting service. We have a 10-acre ranch that is totally fenced-in. The dogs stay in our home and become part of the family. They are cared for just like at home. They sleep on the bed or at our feet. They can go for walks or go into the play yard and play until they are tired. They will love their new home away from home. We have 35 years of business working with the dogs.

I am a pre-vet student at the UW. I also have 8 years of professional experience with animals working as a veterinary assistant and working in kennels. I am available for dog walking, pet sitting, minor grooming (nail trimming, ear cleaning, anal gland expression) and can administer oral medications to dogs and cats

I specialize exclusively in cat sitting. I can guarantee you that you will not find a person who loves cats as much as I do! Your cats will be spoiled, pampered, and loved while in my care. My goal is for you to have peace of mind knowing your cats are being well taken care of. I have extensive experience with cats and cat behavior especially through being an owner of many cats over my lifetimes as well as being in involved in cat foster care program(s). Associated with Cats International (formerly Wisconsin Cat Club).

We offer "in-our-home" quality pet care. Pets stay in our house and have all the luxuries of their own. We specialize in special needs, geriatric, or dogs who just don't kennel well. Alexandrea worked at the Lakeland Animal Shelter in Delavan, WI for 10 years and is experienced with all breeds of dogs. We are flexible with our rates within reason.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
