FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I highly recommend for complete beginners or beginners to take half hour lessons for at least lessons before going to 45 min or 60 min lessons. The first lesson will be an assessment of the student's talent and skill for playing guitar as well as a conversation of what the student wants out of the lessons. There will be material to practice after the first lesson.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar for 12 years total and playing/teaching guitar professionally for 8 years. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Music from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Music in Guitar Performance from Oklahoma City University. I've taught student whose ages range from 5-40. I have performed in recital halls, homes, colleges/universities, high schools, and for weddings.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started playing guitar in high school. I developed a love for playing guitar with my fingers, as opposed to playing with a pick/plectrum, so I gravitated towards classical guitar and finger-style guitar. I took lessons from many different teachers during high school to learn more about guitar and gain proficiency in different genres of guitar music.
