Introduction: Hello! My name is Jake! I got my career start as a chemist practicing on a bench in southern California. However, my true passion is in teaching. More than teaching I like to help students improve their confidence, build better study habits, and most of all learn to love learning.
I have over 10 years of education experience and am a relatable, down to Earth instructor with a lot of patience, energy, and ability to explain concepts simply.
My area of expertise is science and math, but I know a lot about test prep and the college preparation process. Currently I am a certified chemistry instructor in the public school system with a Bachelor's of Science in analytical chemistry and a Master's of Science in education.
What I enjoy about education is helping students reach their goals so that they can have the life they imagine and be happy! Looking forward to working with you.

Jake was a life saver when I took my chemistry class for winter. Even though we live on different time zones (me living in California and he living on the east coast), he and I were able to easily coordinate time preferences/schedule. I remember he had some days where he also had day job, but that didn’t stop him from making time for me (even though a couple of times they were very last minute). Jake is patient, and I felt that he was flexible in how he was to teach it. I get confused with different concepts in different ways, and so there’s never always one way of tackling the problem for me. Jake knew so much, and he was very knowledgeable in chemistry. I almost had thought he was a professor! If you ever need help in chemistry, call Jake!

Jacob took time to find out about my child in advance of their scheduled tutor time -- where she is strong, where she needed work -- and the time he spent with her, he made her feel so much more confident about her AP chemistry work. Would definitely recommend!

He was a great tutor who was always available to adapt his schedule in order for me to learn the most. Sometimes he could not make it to my house so instead he would Skype call and that would help extremely. Before, I was not a strong Chemistry student and struggled in the subject. Now it is one of my strongest courses and I take IB Chemistry.
