Anyone can file an LLC, put a lawnmower and a weed whacker on a trailer, advertise on Thumbtack, and mow your lawn. It's a cultural fact of America that this is the most common fly-by-night type of business other than the lemonade stand. Tree Avengers isn't a fly-by-night business, it's just a relatively new one. I own a business myself. When I set out to find a lawn care guy, I didn't look at pictures. I looked at how they did business and the professionalism they have, because again - anyone can drive a lawnmower and reviews don't help much when it's just 'my grass looks so good omgg!'. Every single lawn care specialist on Thumbtack has those reviews. What every lawn guy didn't have was professionals who want to make this their living and separate themselves from the competition. It takes a particular kind of person to do both hard labor and also be a professional businessman AND direct/schedule a labor crew. Jonathan is that. He briefly spoke to me on Thumbtack and came out to my house the same day giving me a VERY reasonable quote for the size of my yard. When his crew was supposed to come out the next day, unavoidable things came up preventing them from making it. Jonathan immediately called me that morning and got everything squared away, coming back even earlier than he initially said he would. When one of their workers made a TINY mistake that I wouldn't have even noticed, he pointed it out and said he'll fix it first thing in the morning - and he did. Someone left a bad review that to me obviously was totally unfair to Tree Avengers, but Jonathan nonetheless gave them a perfectly concise and fair response and I agree that what the review said is not how he runs his business. When my neighbors that I haven't even met yet came up to take our leaves, he was courteous and professional and offered to drive the bags to their yard a few houses down and even introduced me to them. He made sure I was happy with everything before his crew left and even called me back later to ensure I didn't find anything I was unhappy with later. This is a full blown business, and most importantly one that not only does a good job but corrects for when they don't. I've only had them come out once so far, but it looks like I'll be seeing them every week for the foreseeable future.
