FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Just my own experience and trial and error are my training for this work.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
By accident at home one summer. I had a stool I sat on to get ready in my bathroom that had at one point been black but was covered with makeup from years of use. I thought, I could recover this - it can’t be that difficult...a week later, I had dusted off the sewing machine, recovered the stool beige micro suede and added beading on the bottom edge...it was beautiful and I enjoyed doing it so much that I continued to sew and learn so much more!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Details details details!! You cannot post enough of them for us to evaluate the project! AND PLEASE POST PICTURES!! I pass on so many projects because I don’t want to pay $5 to ask you for more details and not give you an estimate. ALSO, if no one gives you an estimate within the timeframe, repost the request a week or 2 later. I don’t want to do an estimate for something I know I can’t start within the next couple weeks and sometimes the current job is going to take that long. Reposting will allow us to accept the offer again when the time to complete the project is available. But really - details and pictures are invaluable.
